Medised - still available?

Hello
I heard a terrifying rumour that Medised had been taken off the market because it is too powerful a sedative for the under 1's.

Can this be true?

And if it is, can anyone recommend another Mickey Finn?

TIA

Quick buy it On-line whilst you can!!!

I use tixylix cold and flu in the day for DS's colds as this has only has half the sedative in and doesn't 'cock-up' his sleeps, but still stops his nose from permanantly running.

Absolutely tons of Infant Medised for sale in my local Boots today.

SoupDragon · 27/05/2004 16:41

It's not a sedative as such but I think it has an antihistimine in it which dries up snotty noses. And causes drowsiness.

littlerach · 27/05/2004 17:20

I am sure this happens regularly, as I can remember panicking a year or two ago, when it wasn't available!! But I used Dozal instead - just as good!! And then Medised appeared on the shelf again.
Do you think it is coincidental that children are awake a little earlier due to light mornings, then they all run out of Medised a week or so later?!

Well I tried infant Medised on DS2 last night and it certainly eased his teething pain and cleared up his runny nose, didn't stop him stirring ag 1, 3, 5, and 6 am though.

Double dosgae tonight I think

The infant stuff is still available, but the hard stuff, original Medised (12months+) has been withdrawn, apparently. Sob. Not that I would ever sedate my children, you understand...

I live in Dagenham - any ideas where we can get Medised cold relief - NOT Medised pain and fever relief. Can't find it anywhere!

I tried Medised on my 5 year old (when he was full of cold) and it had no effect with sleeping, but then again neither does Piriton! When I was having really bad problems getting him to sleep through - like for the first 5 years (!) - the doctor even precribed Valium and something called Chloral Hydrate (I think) and they had no effect either. Her response was " he's a stubborn little so and so isn't he?" Thankfully at 5.5 yrs he is getting better at it!!

gingernut · 23/05/2007 11:31

Olivo - this is an old thread. Northerner posted that 3 years ago. Nurofen is definitely licensed from 3 months now.

Clinging, no idea about Dozol sorry - try a pharmacy.

olivo · 23/05/2007 16:30

phew - sorry didnt notice the date - must be the lack of sleep, dd is unwell. thanks gingernut!

Bit late to the discussion here...this was recommended by a mate but I haven't tried it yet, however my 16week ds is teething and waking more than usual, am tempted but will it harm him?
