What am I missing? Use the large night time pads all the time, tampons is not even an option. How do you not stain every chair you sit on and how do you not wake up in a puddle? Thank you for any tips! X

Does anyone else crave red meat around their period? I think it's my body howling for iron.

Tena pants are great, they are only way I can ever sleep as I flood when I move. Means no more changing beds and soaking through towels several times in the night.

I used to buy identical dark trousers so if I had to change at work it wasn't obvious there was a problem.

P.s I never got my head around people having white or light sofas. If I was ever invited anywhere like that would decline! Can you imagine leaving blood on white sofa.

Mind you never understand how some professions like Beauty therapist wear white trousers. Mind you I was desperate to be a nurse in my to get days but knew I'd never cope with the white dress.

I have PCOS and struggled for years with painful, heavy and irregular periods.

My GPs went down the route of trying different contraceptive pills to find one to manage it because it would also help balance my hormones - eventually one of the practise nurses suggested Qlaira. It has a good reputation for sorting out period related problems but often isn't suggested as its expensive and GPs don't like prescribing it.

It was a complete game changer for me. My periods are now regular and not at all heavy. Theyre only painful about twice a year and I can live with that.

I don't know why but I am a bit apprehensive about the coil so this worked for me. Definitely go see a GP as there are loads of things they can try :)

On eBay you can buy period pants/knickers that have an extra lining in to reduce risk of leakage, would recommend.

Ibuprofen is like magic!

I hadn't realised it was a proper thing iykwim. I had toothache a while ago and was stuffed to the gills with ibuprofen and when my period arrived it was light. Was amazing. Just tried it again this period and worked again!

Usually I wake to bloody sheets even though I use a mooncup and a mattress sized pad. Also anaemia due to period. Hopefully that'll sort itself out now I've discovered my 'cure'.
