oh no!

i had to do a mad dash the other week round loads of pharmacies trying to get a injection perscrition for dh filled.

BadHair · 02/01/2007 16:11

Have you got enough to get through the next 24 hours? Is this medication needed urgently - what happens if your dd doesn't take it?

If things are really desperate you can go to A&E - I had to take a student once who'd arrived at University without bringing his anti-psychotic drugs. 4 hours in A&E wasn't fun, but neither was the prospect of the alternative!

i dont know if you are in central londoon but try zafash 24 hr has a big stock pharmacy i found them useful they are on the old brompton road,

suedonim · 02/01/2007 21:49

Did you get your meds, Buffy? They should easily be able to get them within 24hrs, sometimes less. Also many chemists have an informal network where they borrow stuff from each other if they themselves are OOS, even if it's just enough to tide you over.

buffythenappyslayer · 03/01/2007 11:34

hi everyone.

well,i didnt get her medicine yesterday.ive rang the cf nurse again today (at 9.30) and was told was she wasnt there at the time but would be back in 20 mins and would ring me,im still waiting.

also rang the paediatricians secretary, who also wasnt available!

rang our gp,who said she cant prescribe any alternative as it has to be prescribed by dd's paediatrician!(they have to follow protocol)

my reply was (very tearfully!) "well if i cant get hold of anybody, cant you stuff the protocol and prescibe her something!"to which the answer was "no"

if dd doesnt have this antibiotic everyday, she is open to infection,if she gets an infection, that can do damage to her lungs.

we get told by all these so called professionals that her medicine is so important and she shouldnt ever miss a dose.

ive got enough for this evening and thats it,end of the bottle.

oh,no im not in london,im in north wales, and our nearest hospital is an hour away, and i havent got a car,and im getting so stressed out and i need a holiday!!!!

Your GP has refused to help your child???? I don't know what to suggest for today's problem but I think you need to make an official complaint about the way you've been dealt with

redtent · 03/01/2007 14:15

buffy- I am horrified at how you and in turn your dd are being treated!!!

I seriously would be making a complaint.

I hope that someone gets back to you asap and that DD has something for tommorrow. I would expect the hospital pharmacy to send something out via an ambulance if you can't get to them.....

Other than that just lots of ((hugs)) sounds like you really could do with out this right now.

xx

hi again!

after bawling my eyes out down the phone to dh,(who is working away),i rang the hospital up.i rang the childrens ward that dd's cf nurse works on.

she was still 'unavailable',so i asked to speak to a senior doctor on the ward.by this point i was crying again!

a nurse actually put me through to another consultants secretary.i explained what was wrong, and she said "oh this is quite urgent".now i was told yesterda that dd's paediatrician was off on annual leave, turns out her secretary is,but paediatrician was there on the ward all day yesterday!

this secretary i spoke too, walked into the corridor (the secretaries are at the end of the childrens ward) she shouted "doctor parry, have you got a minute" and the next thing,i was talking to dd's doc!

shes not happy, she said that the cf nurse is on the ward, and she shouldve contacted me after i have left 3 messages for her.

anyway, she was ringing our gp up and prescribing another anti biotic to replace this one.

i cant believe all the hassle and stress ive had over this!oh,and turns out,the paediatrician got a letter informing her of a possible manufacturing prob before xmas!!nice to be kept well informed dont you think!!

Thank goodness you got what you needed, eventually. It's still worth following up, to make sure it doesn't happen again either to you or anyone else.
