Your GP, family planning clinics and i think pharmacy's can let you have one, also NHS walk-in services

you need to take with 72hours of having unprotected sex, ideally as soon as possible. You can buy it OTC but it costs £22. you can also get it from the Family planning clinic for free or i think your doctors.

Can you really buy one OTC? Would rather that than involve GP. Fio, are you sure?

It always makes me sick I think if you are sick immediately after you take it you might need to take it again.

BTW I've only taken it twice, last post sounded like I take it all the time...I do not...god bless the mirena coil

If you can get to the GP today then do it, as it's ridiculously expensive to buy OTC but free on prescription as it's contraception. You can take it up to 72 hours after unprotected sex but it's most effective if it's taken straight away, so don't go making an appointment for tomorrow or Thursday.

I've taken it twice too and it made my nauseous both times, but I wasn't sick. If I can remember correctly you need to take the second pill immediately if you are sick and get another pill for 12 hours later. It's been a while though so I might be wrong.

I sound like a prize prat, but I'm pretty sure, cycle wise, that I'm not at any risk. Would you do it anyway? Especially as DWR's post said it makes you feel sick. Funny AFs at the moment, which seem to go on for longer than a week (pre menopausal) perhaps?

You can buy it otc but have to go nad have a chat with the pharmacist. If being pg would be a complete disaster I would take it tbh. I ahve taken it once and did nt feel great ut was not avtually sick.

I didn't have to have a chat with the pharmacist on the one occasion that I bought it, but they wouldn't sell it to DP (at the time) and I had to go and get it myself - no questions though.

If you really don't want to be pregnant then I think you should take it, particularly if your cycle is erratic or your periods are lasting longer than usual. Just do it for peace of mind.

Free from GP on prescription - Levonelle is now a single dose - have to take within 72 hours. I didn't notice any side-effects.
My surgery has a Family Planning clinic, so I saw the nurse who got the GP to sign prescription, so I didn't have to see the doc.

NM, why wouldn't they sell it to your partner? I envisage sending H off to Boots to get me one. What was the reasoning behind that?

Oh, eff.

Part of me thinks I don't need to do it.

i took it once with no side effects. got it otc with a few questions asked but very expensive. i didn't think i especially needed it either but wanted to be on safe side.

didn't know you could get on prescription tho.

good luck, hth......

eg can you ring Boots or whoever and ask for it, perhaps your H can collect it then ? They may need to see the person to whom they are prescribing it though (to make sure you fit the criteria under which they can issue it without a prescription). Can you really not go to a local chemist yourself ?

I think it was just red tape. I was a bit peed off at the time but wouldn't have minded if they'd looked twice at me when I asked for it myself. They told him that they needed to speak to the person who would be taking it - but obviously didn't!

It was at Boots btw

I got it today, thank you all for your advice.

I just don't want to take it.

I think I'm on another universe.
