I hope you don't mind me asking you like this. I tired googling the info but no advice on this specifically. Tonight I used for the first time since ICD implantation, some cordless headphones, I know we're meant to stay relatively clear of remote control toys but does this extend to earphones, my chest has been jumping a bit, though nothing like 'kicking'!! Has Peter been given nay advice on this.

hmmm not sure peter was told about keeping clear of remote control toys/cordless headphones. i guess if you are worried, it might be wise to just use them in the righ ear only for now. Did you get a ICD info booklet from BHF? its very good. i think you can get them sent free from the british heart foundation site, or your ICD clinic may stock them.

misdee · 31/12/2006 07:58

oh and does it pace as well as shock?

macwoozy · 31/12/2006 13:37

Thanks for replying

I did get several leaflets but they're well and truly lost along with my ICD card

I went out and bought the headphones yesterday, a really good pair too, and it wasn't until late last night when my ICD felt like it was giving me a few painless jerks that it suddenly occured to me that it might well be the headphones interfering, so it got me wondering if Peter has ever used a pair since his ICD. I had a great time dancing around the house that it would be a real shame if I couldn't use them again.

Yes it shocks at around 212 bpm[I think 212} and only paces when it hits below 40bpm.

Did you mean Peter was told to keep away from headphones? or Not sure Peter was told to keep away from headphones?

i dont think he was told to keep away from them.

could you get an mp3 player with normal headphones?

macwoozy · 31/12/2006 14:11

That's a thought, or go back to the cabled headphones I suppose, I just feel such an idiot that I didn't even think about any of this when I bought them yesterday.

can you return them and explain why?

dont feel like an idiot, i had to keep reminding peter to switch ears when he was using the mobile phone.

fortyplus · 31/12/2006 15:21

Sorry to butt in - but surely the best thing would be to return them to the manufacturer as if they're having this effect on you and there was no warning on the packet then there should be in future.
Best wishes to all - hope 2007 works out well for Peter, misdee. xxx

TBH I'm not really sure if it was the headphones causing it, I've had these 'jerky' sensations with the ICD before, not often though. I doubt I'll wear them again but I won't bother taking them back since ds likes to use them too, just a shame that I didn't buy a cheaper pair seeing I'm not going to benefit.

I also wish a happy and well 2007 for you and Peter
