Great news about Homeopathy! Proved to be the most effective treatment in 0 out of 64 illnesses!

www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/health-news/homeopathy-therapeutic-dead-end-systematic-review-no-evidence-it-works-a6884356.html

"Professor Paul Glasziou, a leading academic in evidence based medicine at Bond University, was the chair of a working party by the National Health and Medical Research Council which was tasked with reviewing the evidence of 176 trials of homeopathy to establish if the treatment is valid.

A total of 57 systematic reviews, containing the 176 individual studies, focused on 68 different health conditions - and found there to be no evidence homeopathy was more effective than placebo on any"

A child in my family was treated homoeopathically for pneumonia. With pretty disastrous effects. So yes, I think it matters and I think critiquing it is really important.

That doesn't mean I think conventional medicine is beyond criticism. Far from it. But at least it is grounded in science, which gives us a means and a process of effectively testing and improving it. That has to be better than blind faith.

Devora · 23/02/2016 10:16

Or is that critiqueing? Both look wrong!

Lweji · 23/02/2016 10:20

Critiquing.

Pantone363 · 23/02/2016 10:28

It does work

My mate had none of her kids immunised but they had homeopathic immunisations instead.

None of them have had polio, measles or any other diseases.

Clearly it works

Lweji · 23/02/2016 10:38

Because they were protected by herd immunity in the community and they were lucky.
Some children are not vaccinated, because they have weaker immune systems, and they are fine.

Although, what are "homeopathic immunisations"? If it's treating like with like and giving a weakened version of the disease causing organism, how is that different from normal vaccines?

PurpleDaisies · 23/02/2016 10:44

pantone even the British Homeopathic Association says "there are no proven homeopathic substitutes for inmunisation".

Um. Yes. I was being sarcastic Grin

BertrandRussell · 23/02/2016 10:51

Pantone's joking, surely?

BertrandRussell · 23/02/2016 10:52

Phew!

PurpleDaisies · 23/02/2016 10:53

Excellent. Sarcasm doesn't always translate when written down. Grin

Lweji · 23/02/2016 11:00

I wasn't 100% sure, but good for you. :)
