Does Anyone Else Suffer From MIGRAINES???????????

I started getting them after my dd1 was born 5 years ago. I get at least one a month near the time my period is due. This month however I have had 3 of the bleeders and it is really beginning to get me down.
I haven't had a change in diet, it is usually hormone triggered I think.
They start off with a fuzzy speck in one or both eyes, which progressively gets bigger over 20mins or so..until I pretty much can't see anything but fuzz! I then feel nausious and have on ocassion been sick. Then I get vision back..and a belting headache...which can last days.
Sometimes my hand or arm goes tingly too.

Does this seem like a normal migraine or should I be getting a bit worried?????

well after my terribly helpful post guess what - got the worst migraine of my life started about 6 pm ny eve and went right through ny day and still not great now, though I am at least up and eating. Spent all day yestrday on my back and puking every time I moved my head.
I'm 6 1/2 weeks pg so can't take any of my drugs and thought I was going to die! I can't face another one - anyone know if the docs will give anything or there is anything I can do? I'm feeling really anxious about getting another one.. it was horrific.

Yeah they give you up the bum ones as you puke too much to get them in the top end! Nice....

I suffer from migraines and one thing I found really helped was knowing when to take the medication.

I found info on a site (think it was migraine association or something similar) about what happens during a migraine. The digestive system shuts down (which is why you can get a dodgy tummy at the time or the next day).

For painkillers to be most effective (cos they have to be broken down and absorbed in stomach) you should take them when you first get warning signs of migraine. If you keep holding off (as many of us do - usually having hands full ) when you do eventually take the painkillers they won't absorb as well.

Also if getting bad take painkillers with fizzy drink as helps absorb them quicker. Or I found that when bad, using soluble painkillers worked best.

I use syndol mostly, but my migraines sound very different to yours (concentrated in different area and with different triggers).

My dd gets migraines - she's 13 and I think they are hormonal, hopefully they'll ease once her periods get going. I agree with Armadillo about getting your meds down early on.

Dd takes domperidone first which is sort of an anti-sickness then she takes her painkillers, usually co-codamol (although they can make you nauseous) and ibuprofen. The triptan meds supposed to be really effective, sadly dd can't have them.
