when dd (2 yrs 4 mos) had pnemonia a few weeks ago she had a dreadful wheeze and was treated with a salbutamol in haler and spacer device for a few days until the wheeze disappeared. I thought that was the end of it, but she's had a cold for the last few days and she's wheezing and coughing again. I've given her a few puffs of the inhaler, and she is improved, but I can't remember how you use the bloody stuff. Not so much the spacer, which is fairly simple, but the dosage of the inhaler. When she was in hospital, I think they gave her 10 puffs to start with, then decreased it, but can't remember how often you can give it- they certainly didn't give us a printed sheet, but i got the feeling that it was part of a protocol....any parents of asthmatic children out there who can advise?

You usually give 2 puffs to start with. It should work pretty quickly.
