, which had a few tiny drops on it... and now I worry, almost definitely/hopefully unnecessarily that it doesn't matter. But I have a niggling doubt, because it says on the bottle that you should see a doctor straightaway if you swallow some. I don't even think she necessarily swallowed any... do you think I need to do anything or am I being a silly worrying person?

ring NHS direct and make sure you have the bottle to hand
I don't think a few drops will do any harm

maisystar · 22/05/2004 19:00

nhs direct??

i am silly worrying person too-think it comes with motherhood

Flip · 22/05/2004 19:00

If you call NHS direct they'll cover themselves and send you to A&E. I once conned one of my friends when I was about seven into drinking some bleach and all he had to do was drink lots of milk to dilute it. If you really don't think she's injested that much then I would just keep an eye on her.

Lisa78 · 22/05/2004 19:03

look here

Drinking calamine causes gastritis, which is when the lining of the tummy gets irritated, its not very comfortable, but not life threatening - I'd give her some milk to counteract it, but other than that, I don't think you have anything to worry about with a few drops

THank you for your prompt answers. I think I'll follow flip's advice for now, as dd2 has just fallen asleep, which is a blessing after a grumpy day with chicken pox, and as dh can't understand my silly worrying persona at all and would not understand why I would ring nhs direct, as we just discussed it and agreed that it's probably okay.

THank you very much Lisa78, only just saw your post! Dd1 just had a milk top up before going to sleep, so am not going to worry anymore now!

God, I absolutely adore Mumsnet! It's just what a silly worrying person like me needs!!!

you're welcome - and you'd only be a silly mummy if you didn't worry about her! Poor lamb - c pox is so horrid! DS1 got it when he was about 7 (bad mummy can't remember exact age!) and conned me into buying him a hamster, in his misery

such a small amount is unlikely to cause any side effects honey
My dd licks suncream off literacy grunts for it to be spread out, like marmite on a cracker.
She wears long sleeves mostly now
