Do you find it helps?
I've been prescribed it for heavy periods. I had some blood tests doneand i've been waiting for the results before i started taking them, so i started on day 3 and have to take 3 a day

when would you expect to see a difference?

The gp said if no difference i'll have to have a scan.

they've always been heavy but they are beyond ridiculous just lately

owllady I take them mid month as they help with ovulation pain which I started to get in the last few years (now 43).

I'm getting it too, which is why I asked (I'm 38 so a similar age - I had my children young - does that make a difference to your body? Confused) GP keep a saying it's stress, which I suppose it could be. I've been stressed for the last year above normal levels

Just picked up my prescription. I take it I take these on the days of my period? Starting on the first day? Instructions are unclear!

Owllady · 05/02/2016 16:55

Yes, start on them for your period only. They've actually helped me btw!

Thanks! Fingers crossed it makes a difference.

I took them for a while for sane reason as you. It turned out I had fibroid which was the cause of heavy & non stop bleeding.
Hope you sort it soon

WipsGlitter · 05/02/2016 17:15

Yes am being checked for fibroids as well.

WipsGlitter · 10/02/2016 18:09

Just bumping. First period taking it. Started Sunday - bleeding Sunday and Monday. Stopped. Big bleed yesterday then stopped. Nothing much today.

How do I know when my period is "over"?

Owllady · 10/02/2016 18:22

Update to this
I was prescribed tranexamic acid next month as mefenamic just wasn't really sorting them, so now I can take both. It's day 1 of my cycle today and the I don't know whether to take either. I have a pelvis ultrasound on Monday and a vaginal scan (lovely) and I've had a thorough rummage up there by the GP, swabs and a sexual health check.

I don't know whether to just wait for the scan, see if there is anything and if not just have the mirena fitted (gp advice) rather than taking these bloody tablets. They wipe me out.

Any advice?

Not next month, last month!

I took some years ago, but I didn't think it helped me much tbh. My periods had always been super heavy; on the bad days I would be changing a nighttime towel every 20 minutes or so Sad
It was then discovered I had a huge polyp which was causing all my problems. Once that was removed, surgically as it was so big, things have calmed down immensly. However, I do now get period pains, which I never used to.

Owllady · 22/06/2016 18:35

Was the polyp in your womb?

OP posts:
littlemissneela · 22/06/2016 20:29

It was about 3 years ago, but I think it was in my cervix. I know it affected my smear as the dr couldn't do it properly, and the results were inconclusive so needed another smear after it was removed.

Owllady · 28/06/2016 09:34

Well I had a scan yesterday and I have a fibroid
Not sure what happens now
