He's been very quiet today and not really eaten much... a yoghurt, some chocolate and milk but he's deffo ill.
I've just noticed this rash which TBH looks like the typical type of rash that they have when a GP says it a virus(rolls eyes ).
It's not all raised but has the odd teeny tiny spot amongst the virus looking rash IYSWIM.
it's all across his back and chest/belly. I can't see any on his legs.

Being very PG I've had a minor panic that it could be something scary, ie measles/chickenpox/whatever. What shall I do??

Dh is at work so I can't really take him anywhere but TBH if it is something scary they couldn't do anything anyway. Could they??

Hmmmm...just want someone to say it's not anything scary.

probably is viral Lth, could you ring the out of surgery docs and describe the rash over the phone and see if they diagnose it that way? could it be the all the dairy hes had today or is that normal.sorry, dont know what normal is as my ds is intolerant to it

LadyTophamHatt · 23/12/2006 18:22

he'd live off yoghurts and milk if I let him so thats normal.

Just had a look around the WWW and I think it might be scarlet fever
The thread on here made me wonder about that and he has alot of the symptons.

Bugger!

Will call the out of hours doc and hopefully be able to see someone tomorrow. It might be xams eve but its not public holiday, is it?? just a normal sunday when it comes to out of hours GPs/chemist (hopefully)

oh dear, has he got a fever, my eldest ds had scarletina which if i remember rightly it was a horrible rash and a very high fever.

can you get a lift to the out of surgery docs so you dont spend all night checking him

LadyTophamHatt · 23/12/2006 18:31

I've been giving him colpol and nuropfen today so temp isn't too bad. He is warm but not roasting.

His tongue is coated and although he says he hasn't got a sore throat his voice sounds all gungy, like it would if he did have sore throat IYSWIM.

There isn't an out of hours surgery open until the morning(!!!!) so will call and arrange to go then.

Not sure if I should be concerned about being so very pregnant ATM....it doesn't mention anything on the medical sites.

what youve got nowhere to go other than AandE? weve got like an oncall care centre in our AandE, always has big queues but you can be referred up there by phone 24hours a day.

can see why youre concerned about the pregnancy.would it be an all over rash do you think if it was measles

7swansaswimmingup · 23/12/2006 18:40

just googled measles and german measles, loooks ghastly! all over the face and limbs as well so hopefully your unborn will be ok

LadyTophamHatt · 23/12/2006 18:48

symptons seem all wrong from measles etc so ....

He's perked up a little now, and is asking for some cereal for dinner.

Just don't tell the MN food police

LadyHatt why don't you ring your hopsital/midwife centre and explain about the rash. They can always run a check on your bloods for antibodies. Seeing as you haven't got that long to go though if I remember correctly. Most contagious diseases are normally only a problem prior to 28 weeks. I got shingles at 34 and had the antibodies as the hospital checked my blood straight away which was a great re-assurance. Give them a ring. Very sorry you ds is poorly I hope he recovers in time for some festive cheer.

LadyTophamHatt · 23/12/2006 18:52

I had to call the out of hours GP last week end because I had horrendous pains in my foot.
I couldn't walk, couldn't even put it down on the floor, even resting it on a pillow almost had me in tears. It was agony.

Called the doc as was worried it might be a blood clot (thansk to my mother putting the idea in my head) and they said the surgery would be open between 10-12am the following day so, you're absolutley right theres nowhere I could go other than A&E.

Mad isn't it!!??

(BTW doc thinks it was a minor stress fracture caused by PG or extreme cramp)

Thasnks Ali,
Ds1+2 has chicken pox when I was Pg with ds3 so I know I'm ok with that, I remeber having measles as achild so that should be ok too.

With only 2 weeks to go theres bugger all they could do really, isn't there??

(I had to wait 10 days for teh resluts to come back for chicken pix anti-bodies!!)

Poor Ds3 has scarlet fever and tonsilitus.

Went to the doc's this morning and have a huge long course of anti-biotics for him.

What a lovely chrsitmas present for him!!

Hope he feels better soon LTH. My ds quite enjoyed the peeling stage and would happily peel strips of skin from his fingers

Miaou · 24/12/2006 15:49

oh no poor ds3!!!! Hope he feels well enough to enjoy himself tomorrow.

Did you ask the GP about you and baby movements, LTH?

LadyTophamHatt · 24/12/2006 15:56

No, I forgot!!
I was a little shocked at all the stuff DS has wrong with him TBH. He's quite happy in himself and doesn't say he feels ill. If it wasn't for the rash you'd never know really. His voice sounds abit strange with all the gunge but he's not complained about it once.

The baby was doing somersaults in there while we waited to see the Doc so I'm not too worried.
I'll eat half my body weight in chocolate later so that should get him moving....if it doesn't I'll call the MW.

Don't worry, as I posted it I thought you would probably forget once the GP told you what was wrong with ds3!!! Sounds like he (ds4) is just fine where he is anyway

Hope you have a good day tomorrow (and ds3 sleeps ok tonight!)

7swansaswimmingup · 24/12/2006 20:24

LTH, only just checked this! glad you got ds to the docs, shame about the diagnosis.
hope the antibiotics kick in quickly, poor little boy.

my ds had recurring tonsilitis, not pleasant at all, especially not for the parents.

merry xmas
