Found a lump in my breast

on Saturday night.

AF was due, and after some googling assumed it would go with my period.

Period has gone, lump is still there.

I am petrified.

I have a friend who was diagnosed with bc early 2 years ago and now has weeks to live.

I know the stats are in my favour, but when I was pg, I reassured myself when I spotted blood the stats meant i would be fine, but I lost the baby. The next pregnancy the odds were very much in favour of a successful pregnancy but I had another MC.

DH knows, but I am putting on a calm face for him. He will be home from work in an hour but I am sitting here in tears.

Can anyone calm me down?

The lump has sort of sunk into my boob.

Its there, but deeper in. Does that make any sense?

It hurts when I poke it, but then I suppose it would, wouldn't it!

My lump was quite deep in, unless I lay on my left side when because my boob drooped to the side the lump came nearer to the surface and became more "feelable".

And mine hurt too because I couldn't leave the bloody thing alone once I knew it was there! Poke poke, prod prod!

Bestwishes for tomorrow.

Mine was deep in, almost underneath my nipple. I don't even know how I found it really. It also hurts if I mess with it though I don't nowadays. Have you called the GP? I had a scan and a biopsy within a few days of seeng the Dr.

FrancesNiadova · 30/01/2016 09:12

I hope that you're OK Albus
I had a lump removed which was benign. When I found my next lump I left it 3 months because of pressure at work & that one did turn out to be cancer.
But, 4 years later I'm still here annoying everyone I had a mastectomy & have had 3 annual all-clears since.
I know you are worried because of your friend, but there are lots more survivors, just like me, around today. Please take heart from that.
Got everything crossed for you Flowers

Its happened to me twice - The first time 20 years ago, I found a lump and the GP found two more. We had private medical insurance - I had to ultrasound and mammogram; then had to wait 2 weeks for the needle biopsies. The GP commented that they knew better than that! (It was an agonising wait). The needle biopsies were done without any local anaesthetic, and the lumps were bouncing around inside! Anyway, the conclusion was benign fibrous cysts. They recommended evening primrose oil; but it gave me nausea - I tried starflower oil, which worked much better for me, in relieving the monthly cyclical pain until the menopause, fortunately stopped all that anyway!

A couple of years ago, I was called in for a routine mammogram - which showed again three lumps. We no longer had private medical insurance, so went on the NHS. Either things have moved on, or it was far better - I had the ultrasound and needle biopsies at the first appointment. I was given local anaesthetics this time, and the most pain came from the nurse pressing so hard on my breast afterwards to stop bleeding, bruising or something! They promised the results in a couple of days, and if positive, we would be booking surgery with the surgeon that week! They all came back as benign - the doctor suspected at least one of them had been there a long time. I suspected it was one of the original ones, 20 years ago.

Appointment this morning.

Can't stop shaking, I genuinely think I have PTSD from the MC. The thought of an ultrasound is making me sick. The only ones I've ever had before have only ever been bad news.

Good luck Thanks

I've found a lump too... Same as you, hoping it would go away when my period started. But it hasn't. I've put off for a few days calling Dr but made myself ring this morning. Got appt this afternoon. Am worrying myself stupid Confused
Holding hands together.

AlbusPercival · 02/02/2016 15:05

Hi Black, hope your appointment goes ok. Had a scan, its all fine, I just have lumpy breasts apparently. Really hope you get the same outcome

Good news Albus, you must be very relieved. After having many miscarriages I have developed 'white coat syndrome'.

I absolutely hate anything medical and my blood pressure goes through the roof whenever I set foot in the surgery, I used to be completely relaxed about it. Stupid really as we have got a few doctors in our family. You have my sympathy!

Fingers crossed for Black Flowers.

BlackDoglet · 02/02/2016 15:18

Fab news Alba.
I'm sat in waiting room now... Terrified.
Sigh.

BlackDoglet · 02/02/2016 15:19

Albus! Wink

BlackDoglet · 02/02/2016 16:04

Seen Dr.
Definite lump, need to be seen at breast clinic asap.
And so the waiting begins.
Sat in car now crying Sad

AlbusPercival · 02/02/2016 17:23

Deep breaths Black, definite lump could be one of many benign things. Flowers

lavendersun · 02/02/2016 19:27

Flowers Black, hope you get an appointment quickly, as Albus said.

outputgap · 03/02/2016 06:54

Oh black it is horrible waiting. I was really scared the first time. Terrified. But it is extremely likely to be completely fine.

girlandboy · 03/02/2016 16:02

BlackDoglet - Mine was a definite lump too. But turned out to be a fatty one and nothing sinister. It's easy for us to say this when you're panicking, but please take a few deep breaths and try to remain calm. Hard I know. The waiting will be hard, but they'll see you as soon as they can. Big hug for you.

Albus - glad yours is just "lumpy". Reminds me of my mother coming back from the breast clinic with the same news. My Dad said that "your mother's got one smooth boob and one gritty titty". Nicely put Confused
