DS (3mths) has 'baby eczema' need some advice

We were first told his skin was dry because he was overdue (7days). Tried baby oil but anything amde by johnsons make his skin rash. Then advised to try Oilatum but this did the same thing. Went to GP and was given Cetraben bath and aqueous cream (used for two mths) on prescription but this hasn't made any differnce. Now we have got Diprobath and Diprobase on prescription (tried it for first time today) and he has little red spots everywhere the cream went.

Really don't know what else to do. His skin is cracking and bleeding in all his creases ie: neck, wrists, ankles etc... and he scratches his little face til it is red raw.

Any advice??

Had this with DS when he was that age & Diprobase seemed to aggravate it. I strongly advise asking for Aveeno cream & bath oil on presecription. It is brilliant & made a huge difference to DS's skin. If its any help he is now 18 mths & his excema hasn't come back this winter

No you can get it in Boots but you may as well ask your GP as well to save you paying. Its made from Oats - doesn't smell great but does the trick!

I would try any good mosturizer that doesn't have petro products. i would also avoid any with almond oil or any nut oil for obvious reasons.

Maybe have a look at L'Occitane.

have you tried olive oil? that greases them up nicely and also has no nasties.

Johnsons is horrific for problem skin.

avoid anything perfumed (wipes, babybath, babyoil). a plain moisturiser worked best for DS.

Was recommended olive oil for his cradle cap (although haven't tried it yet) might give it a go on the skin.

Can't get a docs appointmetn til after Xmas so was looking for something I can go and buy in the meantime. I hate seeing his little face scratched raw and his skin bleeding.

I tried olive oil but didn't find it helped enough. The 1st time I tried Aveeno I bought it in Boots so if you've got one near you you should be ok. Good luck!

There is a Boots in town and one at the airport open 24hrs so can get to either easily. Also, MIL works at Boots so can always pick some up for me.

Thanks for that

Health shops often have an array of creams including Aveno. They also will have Allergenics cream (but I think this has almond oil). I get eczema on ny hands and some creams incl aqeous makes it sting.
