Dental fillings and breastfeeding..Advice please

I have just been told I need 3 fillings . These are my first fillings..not very visible..and I have been given the choice of the standard NHS silver stuff, some low mercury silver stuff (for £20 a filling) or the white stuff (for more dosh).
I am still breastfeeding dd, and thought the low mercury ones would be better in the circumstances (less 'chemicals' in the system the better)..but dh thinks the white ones would be safer.
Anyone know if I'm worrying over nothing..or should I pay out for the white ones?
TIA

I got told to have the white ones while I was still b/f rather than the silver ones.
That said it does cost

Same here, 340 notes for replacement fillings, but they will last for 20 years though.
it is a bit steep isn't it, but it's for the best. Didn't hurt a bit either, but then after childbirth what does?

That price was for 5 replacement fillings bluebear, btw

I had a white filling when bf dd.

I've just rung the surgery to ask price of white ones - they're going to have to ring me back...looks like they are safer though.
The dentist did look surprised when I asked if there would be a problem because I'm breastfeeding but he just said he'd check before I came in for the fillings.
Suzy - Thanks for the reassurance that it's not as bad as childbirth
I hadn't been to the dentist for 10 years and I was trembling just to have this check up!

Well..it's £55 per tooth for the white ones..but what cost dd's health!, so I have to have them I guess.
Thanks everyone!

When I was breastfeeding, my dentist told me it would be a good time to replace all my fillings as it would cost me nothing. In my sleep deprived state, I agreed. Looking back I think he may have been more interested in his pocket than my teeth! Never discussed different types of filling with me. I have since changed my dentist - and caught up on my sleep!
