One of my DDs has more teeth than the other ...

... and I've only just noticed, even though they are 5!! DH noticed actually whilst he was cleaning their teeth last night. One of them seems to have two more big teeth at the back/side, almost like wisdom teeth. But surely not at this age.

They will more than likely be her first permanent (adult) molars.

These usually come in at around 6 years of age & are also known as 6 yr molars.

Perfectly normal. These will now be with her for life, so cleaning is extra important now. They will be difficult to clean as her mouth is still quite small.

Put the brush at the side of the teeth & tell her to close slightly (relaxing the muscles) and you should be able to clean the quite effectivly.

You can always invest in some disclosing tab until you are happy they aren't being missed.

Thank you for your replies. I'm a bit ignorant about teeth and had never heard of this before. Think I need to do a bit of reading on the internet!! Her baby teeth are starting to fall out now as well, she's lost at least 4, yet her sister hasn't lost any and no sign of the 6 year molars either.

They won't necc be changing at the same rate (they are twins, right?) Every child is different & will develop differently.

This is a great way for you too see how different. Don't worry, whatever you read will be a guideline.

Generally deciduous teeth start to fall out as the adult teeth are pushing on them. So she may well get more teeth sooner.
