I am sat here waiting for the blooming GP surgery to ring me back because ds has a bad chest again.

There's also another thread going atm with somebody in the same situation.

What is it with receptionists that they try all their might to keep you from seeing a doctor?

And why do I have to sit here waiting, I really have better things to do

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh

twinkie i had he same prob with ds
he kept having ear infections as a baby and kept taking hm back and getting oral antibiotics
then it started oozing yellow puss wouldn't let me see the doc only the nurse she gave me ear drops for him
they didn't work so actually got to see a doc who was horrified thathe had been given these drops as they were for ezcema (?!?)
eventually had to take him to a and e as it was just gettingworse and worse and found out he had a perforated ear drum and now he is five and has really bad probs with his speech

Although on the positive side, I phoned our surgery this morning at 10am and made 2x appointments for vaccinations with the nurse on wednesday at a time which suits us.
Receptionist a little frosty but job done, never really have a problem with reception, HOWEVER, trying to speak to the HVs is a different , irritating story

i've just called and managed to get an appointment for 3.30pm today, unbelievable....

Twinkie1 · 18/12/2006 13:50

Exactley I would say I would always give antibiotics for an ear infection and get oral medication and ear drops if you can.

I just say its an emergency if I want to see the doctor (and it is an emergency) and if the receptionist questions me I ask when and where they studied and could they please furnish me with their qualifications so I can ascertain as to whether they are competantly qualified to decide whether I need to see a doctor or not!! - after I have waffled that much they just book me an appointment!!
