I was always prone to it but it's flared up something awful. I got it in October and it's been reoccurring since then.

Bought the pessary, the internal cream, external cream.

I went to the GP who did swabs (day after cream and the swabs came back negative) GP gave me 3 x flucozone (sp? ) to take over 72 hours. Which kept it at bay over Christmas.

I'm due to see my partner for the first time in 3 months and I'm terrified I'm going to give her thrush. I did last time and was.mortified!!!

I'm just so upset.

I've bought ph friendly soap which I only use on the vulva, I've stopped using bubble bath, I've bought that good bacteria casual things from Holland and Barrett.

I just don't know what to do. I'm at the end of my tether :(

Have got a yogurt soaked tampon in. Hope it helps a little.

I've had to have a couple of courses of antibiotics this year for various reasons and have got thrush on each occasion except the last where I drank 3 probiotic yoghurt drinks per day.

It may just be coincidence but worth a try??

PollyPerky · 04/01/2016 19:16

Yes I read you had a vulva- but some posters didn't and talked about using condoms- and you didn't correct that so I was confused Confused

You each need treating at the same time.

I'm not sure if thrush can survive on a sex toy- but one way to stop it is to clean the toy before it's passed to your partner and vice versa. Maybe not sexy but no worse than men using condoms.

We are both female and shared sex toys.

Clean the hell out of the toys. Put the cream on them and keep them clean. If you haven't used them for a while then clean them in advance.

Try Total Candida Defence - you can buy it on Amazon. This was a life changer for me but it takes a few weeks for the tablets to work. You might also have to make some changed to your diet such as cutting out super etc. Good luck.

ALaughAMinute · 04/01/2016 19:27

I showed the tablets to my GP by the way and he said there were no harmful ingredients.

ALaughAMinute · 04/01/2016 19:28

Meant to say cutting out sugar not cutting out super!

Just general sympathy as a fellow sufferer. What worked for me was citricidal in oral form plus topical treatment with a few drops in water swabbed with cotton wool twice a day. I hope the bugger doesn't come back. I've has it 20 years and am currently taking daily flucozanole for 2 weeks to treat sodding nipple thrush. But (touch wood) not had itchy flare up in vagina for a while.

I have suffered with on and off thrush since I was 12. I always try and attack it from all angles - use the hardcore pessaries (500 - ask for generic they are much cheaper than canestan) for 3 nights (consecutively or every other). Get loads of sleep (I am more prone after late nights/ when I'm run down). Take a large dose of zinc for a few days (boosts the immune system) - there have been studies that women with low zinc levels are more prone to thrush; this has made a huge difference. No sugar and low bread/pasta.
Symptom relief - sit in a warm - not hot bath with bicarbonate of soda. Get out and dry your bum by dabbing (thrush likes warm and damp areas). Apply anti fungal cream - I prefer DaktRin but you need a prescription. Canestan will do.
If necessary take an oral alternative (not prescribed) anti fungal med eg garlic, capricylic acid.
Avoid tampons!

Poll I assumed they meant condoms on the sex toys so we didn't have to clean them in the moment. Just whip a new one on.

Thanks for the advice guys. I do fing tampons make it flare up really badly! (But being soaked in yog might be different )
