I can't think of any other reason it would hurt only noticed it when I went to bed last night and it hurt to lay on my back. Also hurts to sit. Any ideas?

Have you done any exercise or stretches?

dollybird · 03/01/2016 20:48

Yes, I exercise three times a week, last time was Friday. Could that really make it feel bruised?

I have coccyxdinia. (Sp)

It feels just like you've described.
I've had it for 18 months now and have no idea how it started.
I can't get rid of it Sad

MajesticWhine · 03/01/2016 21:05

This happened to me for no apparent reason and I'm glad to say it did get better after a few weeks. That's awful ihatethecold poor you.

winnybella · 03/01/2016 21:18

Hmm. Could be a pulled muscle/ tendon issue, there's lots of them attached to lower spine and coccyx. A couple months ago I had a bit of pain in my buttock/ a bit of sciatica and I have diagnosed myself with piriformis syndrome Hmm Went on youtube, found some stretches for that and did them, rather enthusiastically. Over the next few days area around my coccyx started to be painful, couldn't sit down for too long, also done something to my hamstring tendond where they attach to sit bones. Point being, there are lots of little and big muscles in your buttocks and I think it is possible that the forceful kicks could have pulled some tendons.in my case it took good few weeks to get better.

Have you moved your bowels today?

WhoKn0wsWhereTheMistletoes · 03/01/2016 21:26

I got this once, went to see a physio who told me my physio was tilted sideways from years of sitting with my legs tucked to the (same) side on sofas and floors. He yanked it back into place and it's been find ever since, 15+ years. I never sit like that now.

Winnybella, a few years later I developed chronic piriformis pain which lasted seversl years (stretches only gave temporary relief). Orthotic shoe inserts completely cured it.

winnybella · 03/01/2016 22:17

Thanks WhoKnows, will keep that in mind if it ever comes back Smile

WhoKn0wsWhereTheMistletoes · 03/01/2016 22:37

Hopefully it won't, it's not nice. Pregnancy also completely sorted mine out, but that's quite drastic and not permanent!

Buttercup27 · 03/01/2016 22:39

Have you ever damaged it before? I broke my coccyx a few years ago and I now can't sit down on hard furniture for too long with out it hurting. I also sometimes get stuck on the floor if I've been sitting in the 'wrong' position too long.

Fingers crossed that it does by avoiding the kickboxing for a bit! Thanks for all your replies

I had this too. I swapped my normal office chair for a gym ball / birthing ball and it gradually disappeared over a few months.

nashley · 11/01/2016 23:59

I had this for about a year. I lost a stone of weight and that solved it! Bloody annoying but was nice to be pain free.
I read that this can also happen if you lose weight too quickly as bones used to being cushioned. Not sure if that's correct - I am no expert!
Hope it gets better for you soon :)
