Our 7 month old DS has just started to erupt in Chicken pox. Any suggestions for successful (homeopathic if possible) treatments.

aww you poor things. sorry not sure what homeopathic means really but I always found that lots of calamine lotion was the best thing for the scratching and lots of fluid and snuggles for everything else

bicarb of soda in the bath

if the rash has started to come out then you are probably over the worse of it you'll be pleased to hear...
homeopathic remedy depends on symptoms:
cough/thirstless/clingy: Pulsatilla
ease the itching: Rhus Tox
blister filled spots & miserable child: Ant Tart

don't use any antihistamine (e.g. Piriton) until the rash has fully come out or you may suppress it.

Lavender oil added to the calamine lotion helps. Chamomile is also good.

Hope your little one gets better soon

feel so sorry for your ds, last yearDH came down with Chicken Pox on Christmas Day he had never had it as a child. He caught it from a child I was looking after. He was so ill for 2 weeks. The only relief he seemed to get was a cool bath,(spent most of the time in the bath)

MerrilyTooBuzzi · 17/12/2006 22:15

agree with bicarb of soda in the bath (not too hot either)

my 2lo had the pox this year. ds had it and then 13 days later dd had it bloody nightmare. I used bicarb in the bath and also used calamine cream( rather than calamine lotion) that doesn't go on white and rubs in but stops it being ithchy. Used Piriton aswell.
Hope he doesn't get it too bad. Crap time of year to get it.
