What is this smell?

My mum is in her 60s and very slim and healthy, no health complaints. For the past few months she has noticed the skin on her ribcage smelling slightly "cheesy" - like that milky smell you notice when you walk into a home with a newborn baby. It´s not noticeable unless you literally smell her skin close up, but she can smell it herself and it bothers her. The skin doesn´t look at all different and she has switched to using unfragranced products and sensitive washing powder, which has made no difference.

Any ideas?

Its a yeast infection of the skin. Most commonly women get it in the crease under their breasts

Thanks, CMOTDibbler. Do you know how she could get rid of it?

She could try 1% caneston cream or equivalent generic brand of she is itchy or uncomfortable. And make sure she dries under her breasts after showers etc.

Thanks so much! Sorry for being dim, but what is the 1% of in 1% Caneston cream?

Sudocream

Sudocrem will also work if it's not too bad, otherwise yes get canestan if she's itchy.

thelaundryfairy · 26/12/2015 11:33

Thanks! There is no itch so I will advise her to use Sudocrem.
