Filling

I just had my first filling and feel awful. Face is numb but tongue hurts, can't bite like normal, horrible taste. Really disconcerting. Is this normal? Will I get used to my new bite or is there a problem? And when does the numbness/ weirdness go? Thanks

Thanks. I'm such a baby when it comes to things like this. I had my top wisdom teeth out before and still feel traumatised by it, now I've got to have my bottom ones out too. Terrified! Ans as for going through childbirth twice... Thought I'd be ok with a filling!

Just something to think about- you don't have to have an injection for fillings. If they are very very deep ones you might want to but I always refuse the injection for the reasons you say- horrid taste, painful when being injected and in most cases unnecessary.

I've had several fillings and old fillings replaced and all without an injection. IMO dentists are too quick to offer them and seem shocked when I refuse!

If the bite feels odd after a week or so, go back because sometimes the filling needs a slight filing down for a good fit.

at people having first ever filling as an adult, or who have such shallow ones they can get thru without pain relief. :(

come to think of it, DH has zero fillings. GRRRRRRrrrrrrrr
