Anyone had a tooth uncovered?

DD is due to have an operation to have a tooth uncovered as it's grown up into the roof of her mouth. Tooth will then be attached to brace and slowly pulled into correct position.

Has anyone or their DCs had this done? Just wondered how they were after, ie was their mouth really sore, how soon did they recover? How soon where you/they back at work/school?

The doctor said to allow 2-5 days off school, but DD is anxious to get back ASAP as she wants to do well in her GCSEs. I seem to recall last time she had an operation she felt awful two days later and was being sick, I suspect due to the shock of anaesthetic.

No, but my dd2 (9) is having this done. 2 extra adult teeth to be removed and one stuck baby tooth. Then front adult tooth at wonky angle trapped in gum is going to be exposed and bonded - I think this is the same process. I'll be watching any replies! However, my dd2 is not in a hurry to get back to school

It might be a bit late, but my DD is having something similar done after Xmas. Nurse phoned from hospital the other day to do a bit of form filling. We've been told it'll take about 30 mins and she should be able to leave two hours after coming around (seems a bit soon to me). Advice will be given on how to look after area.

DD was quite sick 48 hours after a previous operation and nurse said this was quite common.

schilke, has your DD already has operation. If so, how did it go (well I hope)?

My DS had this done a few years ago. It was fine, a little bit sore for a couple of days but it seemed to heal really quickly. I think he only had a day or two off school. The result was very good & he has perfect teeth now.

I had this done Feb 2014, the operation itself was no problem at all, op on Wed and back to work on Mon. Definitely needed the Thurs and Fri to let the anesthetic leave my system. The chains are still in and trying to pull the teeth down, this is probably because I didn't have the procedure done until
I was 30 so everything just moves a bit slower!

Hi my son had a similar op last week, one stuck baby tooth removed and the adult tooth exposed, plus a mesiodens (extra tooth in gum) it all went well, but one thing we didn't factor in was 4 days of painkillers and soft food has caused bowel trouble. 😖
