Could you put it in chocolate milkshake or something like that? If she really won't take it, hiding it might be a good solution. A friend of mine is getting fish oil into her ds by putting it in chocolate icing on cakes.

Sorry - posted before I'd finished! Hope she's better soon and hope everything's going well with the pregnancy.

Not tried by me - but my Dr Sears (who had 8 kids) book says this:

Hide the medicine in a sandwich

Make a cheek pocket - cradel the babys head in the crook of your arm encircling cheek. Use fingers to pull out the corner of the mouth and drop medicine in pocket. Then apply traction on the baby cheek to keep the medicine from being spat out.

Numb the tongue - sucking on an ice can numb taste buds!!

Sit on your child (sounds rough but if you are desparate) put childs head between your legs. Holding the nose will encourage swallowing. Speak calmly and in a soothing voice!

Can you squirt it in maybe.. into the cheek region is supposed to be the best place to aim

Take care

Somedays I have to hide ds's zyrtec in his food, somedays he will consent if he can "help" me take the lid off and then put it on when we are through.

My other thought is that ds has been given antibiotics twice (not that I gave them to him- but that's another story). They were supposedly the same thing but one was white, chalky and had blobs in it and the other bottle was cherry flavour and a thin gel consistency. Is there another more yummy version of the same thing?

Put it in strawberry jam which has pips? Or peanut butter?

poor you, my 4 year old is the same but unfortunately has a real phobia for doctors and hospitals too so whilst one of us holds him (gently) the other SLOWLY syringes in the calpol or whatever whilst gently reminding him that if he doesnt take it we will have to see the doctor. I no it may well intensify his phobia about doctors and hospitals but it has made giving the medicine easier. It is also possible for me to do it alone although harder. Dont know if it helps you but either way you have my huge sympathy and big (((())))
