5mth 2wk old dd not pooed for 4 full days...

she is happy, not in pain, but used to do at least 1/2 poos a day

when I started weaning onto jars of organic baby food she did one or two big poos, but nothing for ages.

when does this become something for a doctor to see? nhs direct website has been no help to me whatsoever...

????????????????????????????????????????
thanks

I found with my baby that baby rice, and foods that had baby rice in them blocked her up. Try your baby on some pureed apple or pureed pear preferably with prunes that have been boiled and blended. not too much mind! ....and plenty of plain water to drink

shes never had baby rice...only the apple sauce/fruity organic pots/chicken&butternut squash etc

MIL says I have to take her to doctor tomorrow, but she is fine in herself???

Is she dehydrated?
How much water should I be making her drink,.I am still BF too, throughout the day

In fact, she is eating and drinking loads, is it too much for her bowels?????????

I'd keep BF loads and just give her fruit for a day. I was still BF'ing my baby when she first started on solids and she did get bunged up... my HV advised upping fluids and fruit. As long as she's fine I'd
not worry for a day or so....
Hope this helps!

I've just had this with my dd, gave her prune juice and stuck to fruit and veg and as much water and bf as poss. So same as everyone else has said but also try massaging her belly round and round, it's sposed to stimulate their bowels - and also try bicycling her legs as this is meant to have the same effect. Mine was constipated for a week and I was really worried about it, but then one day it all came out with no problem except for having to change a lot of nappies! Sometimes i think its just a case of their systems getting used to the solids. I would only go to the docs if she seems to be in pain but as long as you are bf as much as she wants its unlikely she'll be dehydrated, just uncomfortable.
