9 month old with a bleeding mouth

DD2 was cruising around the coffee table and slipped. She caught her lip and her upper gums on the table on her way down. Her lip is really fat but the blood seems to be coming from her gums and the inside of her lip.

What I wonder is if it will harm her teeth (not yet through her gums) on the top.

TIA

unlikely i think.....poor girl !! the mouth bleeds an awful lot, even if only a slight cut..so try not to worry too much...sounds like her lip took the impact if it is swollen, try a cold compress......xx

It should be fine. The mouth bleeds quite easily, and it always looks like more blood than it is, because it mixes with saliva, iyswim.

Aw! I'm surprised that this is DD2 because I only worried about the first one The second one seems to bleed and smack herself on furniture every ten minutes

Mouthfuls of blood last week after tripping up - it bleeds so easily and drool makes it look worse

Thanks for the replies...

MP: dd2 is actually db4! Somehow she seems to cause us more worries than the other 3. Maybe because we are less good at supervising her as she seems to get lost in the shuffle.

Her lip is massive but it is still her upper gums that worry me as they appear bruised and swollen as well.

The cold compress was not well received either! I even resoted to an ice lolly and she would have no part of that either.

aw! How is she today?

Poor mite. Can you believe I once called a paramedic because of dd2 splitting her lip - the blood!

Do you have a nurse at your GP surgery who could have a quick look if you are worried tomorrow?

Cadeauxmum · 11/12/2006 09:33

She is much less swollen this morning. Her gums still look a mess but thankfully she doesn't seem to mind.

Thasnks againnfor the replies.
