his blood thinning injection, doc sorted out a perscription at lunchtime, i picked up and had to try 4 pharmacies before i found any in stock. all said they could order it for tomorrow, but none could guarentee it for today until lthe last one. its in my old area and they are so helpful. they had 4 in stock, and phoned through to make sure i could collect the other 6 tomorrow. they used to do this for dd1 medications as well, have never found another good helpful pharmacists.

support your local pharmacists, they can be ever so helpful.

The collect and deliver service is no good for prescriptions needed in a hurry, I think - okay for repeat (although I've never actually used it, despite having to deal with prescriptions on a weekly basis).

If you are going to have to get this regularly, can you 'nominate' a pharmacy so that they know to keep some in stock. (When electronic transfer of prescriptions comes in you'll be able to nominate a pharmacy for real). We are very much tied to our local pharmacy for dh's meds, as one of them is a controlled substance that most pharmacies would refuse to carry, so there's no "popping into Boots on the way to work" to get this stuff. But on the plus side, they always have some in, because they know he will be in regularly.

he got the last two available last night from the hospital pharmacy, but the doctor was meant to get this sorted out last week so we would have stock. his INR took an unexpected dip yesterday, and the doc had based it that it was unlikely to happen so the perscription wasnt done. co-ag team arent impressed as they asked for this to be available a while ago.

if i hadnt managed to get any today, theni would;ve taken him back to the hospital, whether local or harefield to get it sorted out.

after this course, he will have a spare 4, and i will ask the one more local to carry stocks if possible.

I'm pretty sure they'll do it if you ask - and it really takes the pressure off. I have nightmares about not being able to get dh's meds when needed (and he is nowhere near as ill as your dh, although would be clinically dangerous if he ran out of some of the things).
