Denture bridge or implant...help

Hi all,
I had a root canal procedure around 10/15 years ago. A bit has chipped off it so I went to my dentist to get it fixed. I have occasional sensitivity with it, but if I floss properly and use mouthwash it goes away after a day or two. My dentist took an X-ray but wanted me to see the root canal consultant (£50) to check the root canal was ok before she fitted a crown. I had the appointment today and he has taken out the filling to check the tooth. Apparently it's cracked a bit so he filed (?) it down and has put in a temporary filling. I now can't have a crown (as there's not enough tooth left?) so my options are...a gap...but my teeth will all move...a denture....on a removable plate....both on nhs. Or I can have a bridge...where they file down neighbouring teeth to fit false teeth over.....or an implant which costs £2,500!!!!!!! My husband is a vet and even he says that's a rip off! I would want an implant but it's soooo costly....any experiences/advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks ladies.x

I have 2 implants. They are about 2 years old and I am really pleased with them. I forget they are there.

The only downside is that it does take time for the process to be completed and yes, it was expensive. I just thought about it in a 'cost per wear' way.

I have two bridges - with the first one, fitted several years ago, I had to have the neighbouring tooth filed at the back so that the little plate fitted flush to anchor the new tooth. The one fitted a year ago they didn't have to do anything to the neighbouring tooth - the plate was made to exactly fit the contours. The plan was to look at an implant but I'm so happy with the bridge that I have decided to keep it for now and only consider an implant it the bridge fails in any way. It's a top front tooth too and looks absolutely natural.

They have also provided me with the tooth on a denture just in case it fall off, but to date it has been fine.
