Armpit lump and breast thickening

Sorry if this subject has been recently dealt with but just looking for some positive stories from anyone who had similar symptoms.
I'm 37 weeks pregnant, age 42, and about 5 weeks ago found a hard, pea sized, painless lump in my armpit. I saw my GP last week who said he felt my breast tissue was also thickened and I see a breast specialist next Monday. I attend a family history breast clinic every year as I have a lot of breast cancer in my family. Sadly lost my sister recently and my mum and grandmother died with bc also. Am trying to stay positive and hoping that the lump in my armpit and the thickened tissue is related to pregnancy but am feeling a bit lost and worried.

Thanks ladies!

No positive stories, but you are doing absolutely the right thing by having it looked at immediately. Hope it turns out to be just pregnancy related ... and best wishes for the impending arrival!

Thankyou Lilymaid, clinging on to the hope it's nothing or caught early!

It's most likely to be pregnancy related. But with your family history, your GP is following exactly the right course. It's great that you are 37 weeks already, so tests and treatments would be possible if needed.

I had a client who was diagnosed with breast cancer at 10 weeks, age 40. The outcome, a year later, was good. Baby did fine.

Your pregnancy hormones could well be causing these symptoms but it is good you felt the lumps and quickly responded.

I'm sure you will be ok, but your family history is concerning. I have a similar family background.

Congratulations on your impending new arrival. Flowers

Thank you Tpel and mayhew for your replies. Much appreciated. Hard to relax and not think the worst about not being around for my wee one. My sister was a single mum and left two young children who we're trying to make things as "ok" as they can be for them. Will pull myself together!
Tpel, sorry to hear you have had similar experiences in your family.
