Hi according to my optician i have had eye floaters for years but I never really noticed them if I'm honest. in June this year I was going through a bad patch of health anxiety and one day I noticed a floater.. that day changed my life for the worse. suddenly they were everywhere and I found myself depressed and much more anxious. Dr wanted to put me on anti depressants but I said no and instead I went to see a counsellor for some cbt. she really helped me get a grip on my negative constant thoughts about these things. since then I have days where things aren't terrible but there are days like today where they are more troublesome. I work in a bright office with white walls and am constantly on the computer so I see them alot. some days I can cope other days my negative thoughts could run riot. I have noticed that they are more transparent than they were at the beginning. I'm looking for positive stories from others that they can get better. I have read posts on here saying after a while you can stop noticing them. I need those stories please. please no negative stories as I'm really struggling with these things and need some positivity right now x

I was into A&E like a shot when I had the first massive attack of floaters. I'd had a few since childhood but this was dramatic.

Just find them proper annoying & intrusive especially at work with the silly florescent lights & light coloured flooring & walls there really bad outside on a bright day buy not sunny in the sun there not too bad because the sun seems to wash em out & blur em so I can't see them.. so roll on the summer lol
Sayin that there not so bothersome on dull days like today an there int much daylight is there.

Chocqueen99 · 17/11/2015 15:36

Most of my friends don't have them but I am only 29.

bruffin · 17/11/2015 15:48

Sun tends to make mine more noticeable

Chocqueen99 · 17/11/2015 17:12

I know it is weird that a lot of people say it! I don't think everyone has them or if they fo there the transulent ones mine are black & there's too many to ignore. ..

Hi there, I have floaters as well and I understand the anxiety.

I find I concentrate on them a bit too much sometimes, usually when my eyes are playing up. I get dry eye syndrome and very sore eyes in the winter, and I tend to notice them the most then.

I do sometimes see them in the shower or on a bright day, but forget about them almost immediately. Perhaps the ADs would be worth a try?

If it helps, I haven't thought about them or noticed them in probably months until tonight reading this thread. There was a time I was obsessed with them and worried about them all the time.

I think you are having disproportionate anxiety over this OP. I have see through floaters, black ones, blurred vision and white blur around objects at times. I'm 28 and mine come and go. I can go weeks without them but if I'm anxious they cam appear. It's just adrenalin messing with the dilation of your eye. It won't do you any harm. If you grow to accept them you will feel a lot better about things.

Chocqueen99 · 20/11/2015 17:21

It's very hard to ignore something that is literally right in front of your eyes lol!

Thanks everyone, since posting I havent been back on for ages. Things seem to be improving a little. I had them all checked out and no pvd ir anything. i think my anxiety was making them much worse. I still see them at work in the bright office working on the computer especially when my eyes are flicking between paper on the desk and screen but i dont seem so overly anxious about them now. I do get scared when i think they might get worse.. But i hope not. Xx

Just gone through what you have had, been checked all ok. Don't notice them so much now except as others have said against pale colours. Agree about catching flies though!

Chocqueen99 · 26/11/2015 23:36

Surely they don't just keep multiplying lol I'm really hoping not, glad you're getting used to them. I am to some extent.

angiesmithy · 28/10/2018 10:51

Have they wanted to do anything about your high occular pressure?

angiesmithy · 28/10/2018 10:53

angiesmithy · 28/10/2018 10:54
