Pnumonia recovery

Nearly a month ago I ended up being sent to a and e where after lots of prodding and poking I was told I had pnumonia and pleurisy. Thankfully just about avoided being admitted but needed two courses of antibiotics.

However, I am still feeling very tired compared to normal, tight chested a lot and when I have done too much get a pain in my side - same sort of pain as the pleuosy but much milder.

So my question, being the type that needs to be dragged kicking and screaming to the GP is that normal recovery or do I need to be getting checked again on Monday?

I'm a previously healthy adult, mid 40s, got pneumonia 4 months ago (probably as a result of contracting Hemopholis Influenza). Not hospitalised, 3 weeks of antibiotics and actually I only feel "over it" now.

For weeks after the temperature went down, I coughed and coughed and coughed (normal), I was exausted from not sleeping and may have cracked a rib (medic DH said not much point in X-rays to confirm), and I would get pain from that too if I over stretched for weeks too.

DH had warned me it is a long recovery even for a healthy person but I've been amazed at how long it's taken!

No harm in going to your GP to talk over your concerns (I would have if I wasn't married to one!).

Thanks foggy, yes I am otherwise healthy. Not being able to exercise is driving me mad.

I had pneumonia 18 months ago. It is horrid. It does take a good few months to feel right again, I'm afraid. I am not a medical professional so I would never recommended not going to a GP in this situation. If you're temperature is ok and you are rating and drinking, then it is probably that things are just taking their time.

There's no harm whatsoever ringing your surgery on Monday and asking for an appt. You are recovering from 2 very nasty illnesses.

I do wonder though if you are perhaps pushing yourself a little too hard.
