Trip to minor injuries then?

Went rollerskating with ds2 (12) today, and his friend. I was busy bumbling around trying not to fall over meself...

On the way home he mentioned that his wrist was painful because he'd fallen twice in quick succession onto his outstretched hand. He seemed quite cheerful so just made a mental note to have a look at it later...

Just to mention - am a nurse - which sounds great! Who better? - ah no...

True - am not bad at picking up stuff that needs immediate attention. Once we got in the car to go to school, and on the way out of the estate he complained of a sore testicle with abdo pain and no history of trauma. Instead of turning left to school we turned right and went to A&E. It was a testicular torsion and they saved his testicle. But equally they have to be moribund to get a day off school in our house Hmm

He's very fit and well - doesn't complain and has seen his GP twice since he was born.

Sooo - forgot all about his painful wrist until just now when he asked me to look at it.

No swelling, but very tender and he has anatomical snuff box tenderness, and given the history of two falls onto an outstretched hand it might be a scaphoid fracture.

He's happy in himself, and has had some nurofen, and is getting on with things.no point in going to a&e with a well child who is happy, to then sit in A&E for hours clogging it up.

So going to minor injuries in the morning to hopefully rule out a scaphoid fracture.

Poor guy old stick with a crap mother Blush

I think you're just showing common sense. It's not suitable for A&E but if still sore in the morning it needs to be looked at. Flowers
