If I were you Nikcola, i would ring NHS direct and ask their advice, I have found them invaluable in the past for my little ones

WideWebWitch · 14/05/2004 21:54

I would call NHS Direct too Nikcola. Have you taken her temperature? If it's high, give Calpol to start with and see if it comes down. You could also remove her clothes and sponge her with tepid (not cold) water if she's really hot. See if you can get her to drink some water too.

WideWebWitch · 14/05/2004 21:54

Their no is 0845 4647

nikcola · 14/05/2004 22:02

thank you , her temp has come down a bit she has gone back to sleep now, ill ring nhs direct and see what they say but i wont be able to post back for ages cause they ring u back dont they if they cant help ill have to get a emergensy apointment at the docs tomorow

Nikcola, it's scary isn't it? I do think NHS Direct can be reassuring sometimes. I hope she's better soon. Maybe she's just fighting off something, hope so.

twogorgeousboys · 14/05/2004 22:28

Advice from www sounds great and is what I have always done with ds1.

I think NHS Direct are great too because you get to speak to a nurse (or doctor if necessary) and they are very thorough.

Hope your little one gets better soon, and don't forget if you really cant stop worrying, then A & E is open 24/7 if you need to put your mind at rest.

nikcola · 15/05/2004 14:09

ok i spoke to them they said the same as you www give her calpol and lots to drink, she is still the same today she went to sleep last night at 8 and woke up today at 10.30 and now she is asleep again she wont eat now either my stupid docs is closed, so im gonna take her to the nhs walk in center in town and see what they say i hope they dont think im overreacting shes just so lifeless im worried

I think you're right to take her to the walk-in clinic - you're her mother and you're worried and those are good enough reasons. Any doctor/nurse I'm sure would be happy to see your dd to put your mind at rest. Isn't it a bgger how these things always* happen between Friday night and Sunday? I'm sure she's fine, but get some reassurance.

coppertop · 15/05/2004 18:07

How did it go at the walk-in centre? Hope dd is feeling better soon. xx

WideWebWitch · 16/05/2004 12:52

Hope they helped Nikcola, let us know how she is when you've got a minute.
