A v common situation, but advice gratefully received.
DH & myself had D & V respectively over the weekend. DS (aged 1) didn't have D&V but was running a fever of 38.6c on Friday, and was miserable and off food Saturday, but seemed to pick up a bit on Sunday/Monday. (The doc checked him for ear infections and meningitis on the Friday evening and suggested it might be the onset of a D&V bug).
However, yesterday evening, after a clingy day, he projectile vomited dinner/lunch at teatime and had the runs.
He slept through til 5am, woke with stinky diarrheoa - so I changed him and gave him some milk and put him down again till 7.45am, as he seemed really tired.
I let him play with a finger of toast at 8am, but didn't force his usual porridge on him, and gave him a quiet hour of play and Balamory, and then at 10 he took about 5oz of milk from a bottle. 15mns later he was howling in agony - he had done a really liquid poo, obviously very acidic as his bum looked almost grazed. He was v distressed but perked up once I'd changed him.
I put Savlon on the almost broken skin and a disposable nappy. I daren't let him run round bare-bottomed as the poo is really very squirty looking. I've given him 3ml of infant ibuprofen to take the edge off any sore bottom pain and put him down in his cot (where he is chatting to himself at the mo).
Is there anything else I should be doing. Last time we had D&V the doc said to try to keep offering simple food throughout - anything particularly suitable for binding up poos/relieving a sore butt?
Thanks in advance.
