Will this make me sick?

Just had 4 good spoonfuls of a yogurt bought yesterday. Turns out its "use by 27 sep". Stressing right out that I'm going to be ill. Have a massive work opportunity on Wednesday to really make a mark. Now worried I'm going to be shitting myself/puking in the bog. This was from fecking saino's as well.

So, will I be ill, and is there anything I can do?

Does anyone know if they'd get much of a bollocking if I complain to trading standards?

I imagine if it had gone off you would have noticed before you'd managed to eat four spoonfuls, it probably would have tasted unpleasant.

Is it definitely the use by date? I only ask because the other day I was momentarily confused and outraged after reading the date of manufacture (or something along those lines) instead of the use by date Blush I'd not seen that on packaging before, I can't remember what food it was though.

Hopefully all the beneficial bacteria used the extra time to multiply wildly and your gut will be super healthy Smile

I can't imagine there is much you can do to prevent a tummy upset, but fingers crossed for you that all is well Flowers

Highly unlikely.

We all worry too much about sell by dates in my opinion. Generally if it is off it will smell bad or taste bad as the previous poster said

I have absolutely no food hygiene knowledge but I have eaten put of date yogurt on more than one occasion, as have the kids, and been fine. If it tastes yoghurty and there's no mould I would eat it. They shouldn't have out of date products on the shelf though, that's a long way out of date, so I would complain, either to sainsburys or trading standards

It tasted a bit yuck, but not massively. Just enough to make me look at the date. No mouldy bits. Feeling a bit calmer, thank you everyone. I have emailed them, and have the lid and receipt saved.
