blood test - make me feel better

Off on holiday tomorrow and have just got the results of a second blood test 8 weeks after an initial abnormal one. The results are abnormal again. Low haemoglobin 118, low haematocrit .35, low rbc 3.5, high mch 34, low platelets 137, low WBC 5.5, low neutrophils 1.6, high lymphocytes 3.3. All the other results were normal.

I'm now stupidly scared and can't see a doctor for a week and a half. I'm scared because I looked up the results and saw leukaemia and a few of the symptoms I've had - night sweats, a couple of nose bleeds and pain under my left rib.

Please make me feel better or I'll have a rubbish holiday. I know I sound paranoid :-(

good food, rest, sun (?) will make you feel better.
can you ask for a phone consultation with gp on monday?

do you have travel insurance or enough money in case you need to return home earlier?

You could just be run down. If you've been taking any kind of medicine lately that can affect your bloods too. I'm not a doctor so I can't comment on the figures I'm afraid.

My Dsis was convinced she had cancer just before an expensive holiday. She cancelled the holiday and was completely fine.

Even if it is L. a week and a half won't make any difference to your physical health, though I can understand you might be stressed out. And again, even if it is, it's not a death sentence.

Try to focus on being calm on holiday and living in the moment. And good luck!

I don't understand what those numbers mean but when my good friend had leukaemia she got an urgent phone call asking her to go straight to hospital.

Who gave you the results? I'm a bit shocked if it is bad news and it's not been delivered by a professional who's talked you through what it all means.

Could you call your GP and ask for a call back and ask for their advice/reassurance?

Flowers I hope everything is OK.
