Headaches, tired, pains for years?

If anyone has any advice...

In the last few weeks I have noticed that I am always tired no matter what time I go to sleep, I have been having undisturbed sleep recently yet I wake up tired and still tired throughout the day.

For years now I have had mild to severe headaches. It's got to the point now that if I notice a headache coming on, I take painkillers way before it gets to me, even though they don't work. And some days I have dull headaches that I have just got used to dealing with. There is rarely a day I DON'T have a headache. I'm lucky if I don't!

And during my periods, I have strong lower back pain and my pelvis aches. To the point that I want to cry. Periods are regular but heavy since having my son 3 years ago.

I lost a lot of weight after having him. I suffered birth trauma so guess I was subconsciously stressed. I went straight back down to my pre-pregnancy weight, then lost another stone and a half on top of that. I haven't managed to put it on and I can eat whatever I want, no improvement! I'm constantly cold as well, no matter how warm it is in or outdoors.

I have mild epilepsy that I have no official diagnosis for, it was just that I had seizures as a kid and they couldn't find anything wrong. They said I would grow out of it but I have had about 4 seizures and collapsed since. I feel nauseous and dizzy everyday with no explanation. Sometimes dizzy enough to think I'm going to have another seizure, but as I've lived with it for so long I can control them now, by sitting down and breathing, while focusing on something.

What's wrong with me? Confused
Anyone else have similar, or any advice? Much appreciated. x

I would ask the GP if blood tests can be done to see if your thyroid gland is working as well as it should be. Excessive tiredness, back and loin pain and feeling cold all the time can be indicative of such problems.

Have you sought recent medical advice re the previous seizures as well. This all warrants further investigation.

I went for blood tests a couple months ago - apparently everything is fine, just my iron is a bit low, but what I wanted to know is whether it was thyroid problems and nothing came back abnormal.

I was meant to have a CT scan before I found out I was pregnant, so cancelled it. Then because of what happened at the hospital, birth trauma etc., I couldn't / can't go back there for it. I'm petrified of being sent to the same hospital, but I guess I could handle going to a different hospital? I've told the GP all this and they've said nothing.

Thank you for your reply.

Sorry to hear of this. can you recall why your gp ordered the CT scan?
going to another hospital sound s like a good solution.

My cousin had a hospital trauma that left her unable to face giving birth in one. Hypnotherapy helped her. There will be something that helps you too, it x may just take a few tries to find it.

It is me, I NC'd.

I had a seizure one morning and went to the docs, said about constant headaches and previous seizures and said that I had never had any scans for it, so she referred me. But it was with the hospital I had my son at.

I'm waiting for therapy to ease my feelings or help with the association of trauma even though I have recently come to terms with my son's birth, the trauma is still there when I am around medical surroundings. I'd have a panic attack if I wasn't in the right mindset.
I've not actively pursued help for these problems since because of what happened and fear of being sent back there, or any hospital, so lived with it all. GPs etc. were very dismissive of my problems after having my son so ended up not being able to really trust them.

Have you had blood tests for thyroid problems, ceoliac, had b12 and iron levels checked?

If you had, and these things are all normal, you might want to try an exclusion diet for a few weeks (Google MarksDailyApple blog and have a read through his very interesting archive of articles on autoimune conditions, grain free eating etc. Obviously it's not going to work for everyone but it's worth a try for a few weeks.

I had your list of symptoms (and more), no seizures but pronounced balance problems instead- all resolved over a few months on gluten free, grain free eating plan. I felt really unwell the first 4or 5 days then everything started to resolve (headache, migraine and gut pain first, balance issues too months to slowely improve).

And a wee word about the painkillers, they won't be causing your issues but they can certainly contribute by causing rebound headaches and possibly also by damaging the tight junctions in the gut (might worsen immune conditions). I used to take LOTS and I'm sure they were causing more harm than good. These days, I very rarely need them.

Apparently they checked iron levels and thyroids, but not b12 or ceoliac - I have no idea what either of those are!

I will have a look at that then, sounds interesting, thank you. If it worked for you I'm convinced. Everyone has told me "You need to eat more" "Sort your diet out" etc... I admit my diet is very basic, if anything, but when I do try to eat a lot (when I have the will) and gain a bit of weight, it drops straight off the week after.

I do try to only take painkillers now when it's really getting to me as I have heard taking painkillers for the sake of it can cause your headaches to be even worse.
