Prolapse - pelvic floor exercises etc

I've been diagnosed with a mild prolapse and saw a physiotherapist about pelvic floor exercises. On examination she said she could barely tell I was trying to do pelvic floor exercises Blush. She has lent me a machine to stimulate the muscles, but it is very unpleasant and freaking me out.

Anyone had a similar experience? I'm trying to do the exercises anyway, but feel it is a waste of time and feel quite down about it. Has anyone used one of these machines and is it worthwhile, is it going to make a difference? If so, I'll try and continue using it, but not if I'm wasting my time.

Thanks for anyone who shares their experience. I don't want to have surgery, so really need to do something about this.

Look up Michelle Kenway on you tube, and make sure you are doing the exercises correctly firstly.
There is a fb support group for pelvic organ prolapse which is excellent - its a closed group, and you can ask anything :)

Pelvic floor exercises are definitely not a waste of time.

Is there anyway you can dial down the strength of the machine?

For bog standard pelvic floor exercise (which is not just kegels) I would strongly recommend the Hab-It DVD/website.

Also have a look at the pelvic floor exerciser - ismgives something to squeeze against but is purely mechanical, so depending on why you find the electric one unpleasant, it may be better.

Thanks for the replies. I'll look for the things mentioned.

I find it unpleasant because it's like an electric shock going through my nether parts!

The physiotherapist checked if I was doing the pelvic floor exercises correctly, she said she could barely feel me doing anything Shock

I don't have many incontinence problems, except if I have to go for a wee,I have to go immediately and I leak if I cough or sneeze. But the prolapse feels uncomfortable and dragging after standing for a while and I just feel old and no longer feminine if that makes sense?
