Mole removal aftercare

I had a mole removed from my face three weeks ago. The dermatologist told me not to do anything to it (except use sunblock) and that a scab would form. So I walked around for a couple of weeks with a horrible big scab until it came off by itself. I now have a pink mark where the mole was.
So today I googled how long it would take to fade, and came across comments by dermatologists saying you should not let a scab form because it inhibits healing!!! So annoyed to have been badly advised! Does anyone know if it really will make a big difference and what I can do now to best help it heal? The scar is quite large and in a really prominent place. :(

Can I ask if this was privately done and if you self referred? I have a facial mole I really want to get rid of and I'm not sure how to go about it. I went to the Dr's and all I got was we don't remove facial moles due to scars.

I'm overseas so privately done.

Incidently, it was removed with laser and she told me there would be no scar. I'm hoping the pinkness will fade. It's just annoying to now read about keeping a wound moist and/or covered to prevent scarring. When it too late!

You are certain that you trust a random person on Google more than a real life dermatologist who you recently allowed to laser your face?

I had a mole cut out of my face, it was pretty deep. Fast forward a few years and you can't even tell where it was. I had stitches and no aftercare so I presume there would have been a scab.

Wolpertinger what I found on Google was a lot of information about keeping a wound moist being better than allowing a scab to form. Some of that on the pages of "real life dermatologists". Some doctors are better than others and have more up to date information. I trusted at the time that she new best. Does that mean I'm not allowed to question it afterwards? I don't think so.

Thanks HellKitty, that makes me feel better. It is certainly already an improvement on what was there before. Just looking for reassurance I suppose, that it will fade.

None of the Google dermatologists have seen your face. Either you trust your dermatologist in which case ring them up or you don't. Dr Google is rarely a good idea.

well I let a scab form when I had my melanoma removed. I had 15 stitches in my face after that. Anyway when stitches came out was allowed to use bio-oil and yes have a scar but its healed amazingly well hardly noticeable.
