What are the chances of getting a breast uplift on the NHS?

I am so unhappy with my boobs, when I take my bra off my nipples are pointing at the floor! They aren't even that big, a small C, but having 2 kids has really ruined them. Would I be able to get them done on the NHS? Or, if not, can anyone recommend a cosmetic surgery? Am really desperate now, I can't even let dp look or touch them naked because I dislike them so much

I can't imagine the NHS would fund such operations. If they do, maybe they'll give me a tummy tuck!

My mum got hers reduced on the NHS, but I suppose that's a health thing due to back pain, and what I want is purely for cosmetic reasons.

if you can prove serious psychological distress that is negatively impacting your life, you may be able to get a sympathetic gp to refer you...i would expect a 2 to 4 year wait tho

hercules · 13/05/2004 16:45

Book me for a tummy tuck too!

aloha · 14/05/2004 14:48

I doubt you would get something done on the NHS but it might be worth talking to your GP. Otherwise, if you want to email me I can help you find a surgeon in your area or one I know. I write about surgery quite a bit. It's not a complex op. Whereabouts are you?

Branster · 14/05/2004 15:14

aloha, have you had yours done? happy1, i know exactly how you feel. after having dd and breastfeeding for 1y all i have left a couple of empty teabags! they sag, no fullness etc. it's really embarrasing actually, i can't bend down without a bra on because it looks absolutely awful. my poor dh...there's no chance of me ever cheating on him because i would never show my breasts to anyone! i can't even wear vest tops or low cut tops because a0 i have tow ear a bra all the time to keep them in place, b0 i have no cleavage because averything is so low down. damn! they need a serious lift, i don't actually want them any bigger. there's a procedure called Beautytek which apparently firms them up, i'll have a look at a link tonight and post it here. but that's not cheap either, it just sounds a bit better than surgery becuse ther's no cutting involved but it's probably not guaranteed 100%

No - oddly enough I'm reasonably happy about mine though age has taken its toll a bit.But I've seen my fair share of before and after pix! I just write about the subject quite a bit and might be able to help to find a good surgeon.

I am very unconvinced that a non surgical method could have good results with severe drooping.

happy1 - how long postbaby are you? My experience is that nearly two years down the line from my last one things have cheered up in that department after being pretty depressing for a while. They are by no means what they were (never that fab ) but mcuh better than their worst. Would it be worth waiting?

noddy5 · 14/05/2004 15:48

have you tried any creams or lotions?

Branster · 14/05/2004 16:13

i agree aloha. it sounds much worse than it is in reality so i wouldn't consider surgery yet - but i'll start a thread on post pregnancy breasts. natt, you're right, they seem to get better with time, a bit fuller, but nothing is going to lift them happy1 apart from as you say some surgery. noddy5, have you tried any creams with success? i've tried different ones, the most expensive being a lotion from Lyerac but nothing did anything at all. So i do wonder if there is such a cream for firming &lifting that actually works. Sometimes i use a dill mixture for massage and it feels somewhat better but not perfect. and i would never try one of those herbal tablets as i'm sure they affect you in other ways. i'm going on about it becaus eit's something that really upsets me when thinking about it, only because i used to have perfect breasts before and now they're gone for good.

am sure a reality prog would pay!
