Hi xmasstocking ....
I didn't want to hijack that thread anymore ...
You were a bit worried about your DS feeding after his op?

My memories of the time after my DS's op are a bit blurred to be honest .... I was given bad advice re. keeping my milk supply up while I couldn't feed him for the 48 hours of drips and whatnot. So milk supplied diminished and not knowing how to get it back again DS was bottlefed by 6 weeks (his op was when he was 4 weeks).
From then I was always a bit neurotic about food to be honest ... [crazy emoticon]
DS did feed a huge amount of formula (a worrying amount) and piled on the weight - he was a really really fat baby by 4/5 months ...
I did wean him early ( 13 weeks - advised by the HV and Doctor at the time) BUT I AM NOT SUGGESTING YOU DO THAT!!!! If I could go back in time I would tell myself to stop panicking and give him a few more weeks.

He hasn't suffered for it (thank goodness) but I wish I hadn't weaned early ... really not advisable .... He is a fantastic eater at 7 .... loves healthy food (and usual junk too obviously) is a strong, energetic boy who loves his sport - of average height and weight for his age ....

For your DS, I know you are worrying about how much he eats but really, if, like you say, he is putting on weight, and is thriving, back to his percentile, happy, sleeping well for his age etc then don't worry ... don't do what I did and become a foodie nutter mum ... Easier said than done when you actually watched your baby literally starve (against all maternal instincts) and could do nothing about it ... but try not to jump the gun with weaning .... 12 weeks is still so young ... and he won't have any more calories from solids than he is getting from milk ...

HTH

Doh ... I just re read your post on the other thread and you said your DS is showing NO signs of wanting solids ... so ignore the whole of the previous post

I was given bad advice with feeding from the minute it all went pearshaped really (breast to bottle, early weaning) ... and I wish I had had a little more natural instinct to ignore that advice ...

Your DS sounds like he is doing great ... well done him and you keep up the good work
