Worst ever nightmare. How bl**dy awful for you.

Thanks for the warning. I am always seeing rogue tablets around the place and after seeing this I will lock them up properly.

Hope your dd is okay.

sissi69 · 03/12/2006 10:00

he likes to have medicine when is not well....

Carmenere · 03/12/2006 10:02

You poor poor thing, glad she is ok.

ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 03/12/2006 10:04

SO pleased she is ok but what a horrific episode for you all. A good reminder to us all though. I have a locket medicine box on top of my wardrobe, but being sick the last few days have paracetamol, sudafed, echinacea and vit C on my bedside table. Think I will pop up and lock them away. It is too easy to become complacent aboutthis thingsuntil you get a wake up call like this.

aliceband · 03/12/2006 11:11

how awful for you. the mother whose tablets they were must feel absolutely terrible.
It is hard enough to be completely safe in our own houses, but in other's peoples houses it is doubly difficult.

brimfull · 03/12/2006 11:25

bloody hell, how terrifying.I am so glad your dd is ok now.Your 10yr old is a superstar .I will definately take more care now.The woman whose house you were at must feel awful.

Chandra · 03/12/2006 11:35

That's terrible. But glad your DD is feeling better. Good reminder for all of us to keep things out of reach and our eyes opened when we are visiting other people's houses.

About paracetamol being left around... OK, I don't want to scare you but...it may seem quite inocuos and it's so widely used that it's easy to ignore how dangerous it is. (a packet will certainly kill a child (or an adult) within a few days, once it has been absorbed you are done unless you manage to get a transplant in a week.

So good idea to go around the houses picking up all that medicines that have strayed out of their place! (I'm going to do the same right now)

How scary for you. I'm glad your dd is better now. My mil cares for her 95 year old father. He takes a load of heart tablets, always left out on the dining table (I found one on the floor once). My mil regulary babysits her four granddaughters, and even lets one of them (aged two), take the tablets out of the packaging to give them to her father. I've told my mil she shouldn't do this, that they are strong tablets that two year olds shouldn't play with, that they should be locked up. But they don't listen to me.

My trust in my mil rapidly dimished after this.

belgo · 04/12/2006 14:12

deminished
