My baby had his 3rd lot of jabs yesterday and since then he has been VERY ill and insettled since then. He is crying and moaning and thrashing around in his sleep right now.

I phoned the drs and they said to call back at 12 to speak to the nurse but I am so worried. He couldnt die or anything could he??? I am really afraid something is wrong with him. I am only typing this while he sleeps because I need some advice when he starts crying I run to him.

Please tell me if you know of terrible reactions to vaccinations.

Eeny, it's usual for them to be off-colour after their jabs. If you're concerned, though, call NHS Direct now rather than waiting until 12 to speak to the nurse.

am taking him to the doctor tonight at 5:50.

It sounds like a fairly normal reaction. He'll almost certainly be completely fine again in a few days. What's his temperature like? If he goes very floppy or has a seizure then call an ambulance. Severe reactions are very rare.

You can self repport reactions here:

whoops here

Uwila · 30/11/2006 12:39

Yopu said third set. I would expect a reastion on the second set if it was the jab. But, I'd deffo be camped at the doctor and wouldn't settle for a nurse.

How old? Am I right is the third set of baby jabs? Any reaction last time?

eenysugarplumfairy · 30/11/2006 12:49

thanks for the link jimjams.

Uwila he is 16 weeks old. The other 2 times he got his jabs he was fine. This time he is asleep but crying in his sleep, moaning & thrashing his arms around - not so much that I think its a seizure but just that he is really miserable. I am trying to just keep him asleep as much as possible today til our Drs appointment.

eeny..that is a worry...can you give him some calpol when he wakes? and yes..doctors tonight a good idea....DD had no reactions at all until the pneumococcal jab..and was hot and unwell for a couple of days.... xx try not to panic and let us know what the doc says xx

eenysugarplumfairy · 30/11/2006 18:19

Well went to the Doctor. She examined him pretty thouroughly. It IS a reaction from the jabs but there is nothing she can do about it. It should stop by tomorrow morning. The site of the injections on his leg is a little swollen and bruised. Phew. I will probably check he is breathing about a million times tonight!

Have you given him some calpol? Might help a bit. My LO had first set yesterday so can sympathise. Think about all those horrible illnesses he's now protected against though. Worth it in the long term.

eenysugarplumfairy · 30/11/2006 19:58

I had given him 2 doses of calpol yesterday and today but it wasnt helping so I gave him some benedryl and sent him to bed. BLESS I love him so much! Its awful when he isnt feeling well. Hope your LO is ok.

Did the dr report it. She should report any reaction- they don't have to be hugely serious. Hope he's better soon!

lulumama · 30/11/2006 21:38

eenysugarplumfairy · 01/12/2006 15:04
