TSH, prolactin and TTC

Hello all,

Was wondering if anyone has any advice. I'm heading to my GP on the weekend to talk about my CD21 bloods as I'm not happy with some of the results (despite them all being within NHS normal ranges). I want to discuss the possibility of me having hypothyroidism.

Results were:
TSH- 4.26
FT4- 17.5

The other one that is throwing up red flags for me is my prolactin was at 438. For some reason the NHS thinks that's a normal level, despite the fact that I lactate (enough to produce a small stream of fluid when I 'milk' my breast, despite never having been pregnant) and a lot of other medical websites say a level that high is abnormal. I also have several of the symptoms of being hypo, plus cystic acne and a short LP, despite progesterone levels being excellent on CD21.

So, how do I get my Dr to take me seriously? I have found a paper on the British Thyroid Assoc website that says when TTC, TSH levels should ideally be kept under 2.5 which I will print off and take with me, as well as a list of symptoms. My levels are all borderline normal, which obviously doesn't mean optimal, but I'm worried they are just going to tell me to go away Sad Anyone had any success with similar circumstances?

The NICE guidelines say under 2.5 for TTC and high prolactin levels are an indicator of hypothyroidism.

In a healthy person you would expect TSH to be around 1.

You may need to fight on this one, but I think you have the ammunition..

Good luck!
