absolutely exhausted all week, ill or PND?

VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 10:03

thanks for looking...

I had a strenuous weekend, after feeling on top of the world for the last couple of months, but this week has been unbelievable...
I have felt utterly exhausted, unable to move, my neck shoulders and back ache, generally feel like I am coming down with flu, but no cough/cold symptoms at all,
I have just finished a course of antibiotics for a bacterial nipple infection, so I think the doctor will be sick to death of seeing me again, esp. with me just saying 'I am soooo tired...' will he just tell me to take it on the chin?

Is it PND? but I dont feel 'depressed' or 'sad'
Am I just 'tired'? dd has been up 2/3 times a night for 30mins a time,
If it was an infection, wouldnt I be thoroughly ill by now?
It frightens me to feel like this, so weak, I cried last night when I had to get up and finish cooking the tea???
Is it a reaction to the antibiotics? Never had a reaction before, though?

????thanks???

just burst out crying

just made an appointment at the doctors
shit It might be PND>
why now, suddenly at 5months?

I am over protective of my dd, I adore her, I dont feel sad, just frightened of being ill.
[cant stop crying] emoticon

it is not 'just' tiredness

it is exhaustion

I find it hits me at about 5 months

Can you have a very restful weekend and see if it helps things?

VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 10:14

it is like nothing I have ever experienced, apart from the first weeks, I feel like I have taken an enormous step back to square one.

OP posts:
VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 10:16

wonder why at 5mths when everything finally seems to be settling down?

OP posts:
Enid · 30/11/2006 10:16

have you had any other major stresses lately?
are you breastfeeding?
I do feel exactly as you describe every now and again but after a couple of days rest I always feel better

remember it IS absolutely exhausting having a new baby

do you have others?

Enid · 30/11/2006 10:17

I always think it is like hitting a brick wall

Your adrenalin runs out - I live on adrenalin and the joy of a new baby for the first 5 months or so

then suddenly life is 'back to normal' and you asre still knackered - they start teething, you feel massively fat still etc etc

VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 10:19

I am bf
I just came through a nasty nipple infection which was agony, so now it is an absolute pleasure to feed again,
I have my parents moving in with us today, for 2months until their new house is ready, dh is less supportive of the idea, if that can be called stress,,,
last weekend I exhausted myself helping them pack boxes and went on a fast and long country walk,
I have just had two days of doing nothing and feel no better at all. I am going to see the doc in half an hour,
I bet he is so sick of me, I bloody live there.

OP posts:
Enid · 30/11/2006 10:20

feck me it would stress me out if my parents were coming

go and see him

then go to supermarket and buy some multi vits and come home and go to bed

VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 10:20

I want them to rule out all the illness side, then I know its in my mind,,,

god, dont know if I want to saddle myself to antideps...

OP posts:
Enid · 30/11/2006 10:21

if you are exhausted antid's won't help

you need to rest rest rest

not just 'doing nothing' but properly sleeping

VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 10:21

yes, I got some pregnacare yesterday...

gotta go dd crying, thanks for your advice, I will let you know what is said.

IF he thinks you need them take them! I had very bad PND which did not get serious until 5 - 6 months. AD's were literally a lifesaver. Don't try to tough it out, please. Depression is a chemical imbalance. You cannot reason it away although therapy along with AD's has been proven to work better than AD's alone.

Good luck at the docs.

foxinsocks · 30/11/2006 10:36

goodness, I feel exhausted just reading your post. You've got a young baby, you've been helping someone pack boxes (physically tiring), you've got dh on your case because your parents are coming to stay (for 2 months ) AND you've just been on antibs for an infection??

I agree with Enid. I'd hand the baby over to your parents and go and spend days in bed. Also, don't forget, you can get a sort of post viral fatigue after nasty illnesses.

VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 13:30

get ready to or

just had a urine test at docs to see if I am pregnant.....now I really will jump off a cliff if its that...I think I ruined my dh's day at work telling him that little gem...

I have blood tests on Monday to rule out viral things, and anaemia.

She reckons I am exhausted and anaemic, I think.

OP posts:
VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 13:31

thanks people, she also said to do things on my own, like the hairdresser etc,. so the parents will be useful sitters, I think.

If we dont all kill ane another...

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 30/11/2006 13:33

did they not tell you there and then (about the pregnancy test)?

you can take floradix or spatone while you wait for the results if you are worried about the iron

so, now you have been officially TOLD to go back to bed and rest!! I hope your parents will help you out so you get a bit of a break.

SilentBite · 30/11/2006 13:42

This happened to me and I had glandular fever

I literally couldn't walk up the road

Hope it's not that as it is vile with small children

VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 13:45

I had glandular fever when I was 5, I missed a term of school. that is a powerful illness indeed.
didnt think to ask re- the urine, was a bit embarrassed to cry in fron tof the doc and her two glamorous students.

OP posts:
VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 13:46

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 30/11/2006 13:53

VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 15:09

OP posts:
VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 15:53

OP posts:
VoodooKumquat · 30/11/2006 15:57
