vitamins and minerals - do any clash?

I have ME and osteo. I also have a badly herniated disc, but that's just a pain issue. I can't tolerate cows milk - just so I'm disclosing everything.
I'm a bit fragile atm, so please don't tear in to me.
I take a shedload of supplements every day, but wonder which ones should be taken together, and if there are any that shouldn't.
I start my day off with magnesium, CQ10 and B12 (and painkillers)
I end my day with Glucosamine, Omega 3, multivits, multi B, D3, will add K2 once it's arrived (and painkillers)
I found the mag, CQ10 and B 12 each helped clear away a layer of brainfog, so worth it for me.
Unfortunately I still need to take omeprazole for reflux at night.
Comments and advice, please - I've been supplementing for about a year, adding things here and there, as I find out that they may help.

Just make sure you take D and K after dinner with fatty food otherwise they don't absorb well
Also Mg is better with calcium and best form is citrate - you can use it as lotion as well it's fab for calming effect
Omperazile sorry to say bit not that great for you. Could you find other natural way to combat this? Like apple cider vinegar or hcl betaine (if you google here are loads if natural ways)

Sympathies OP ,ME must be awful .

I found this www.nutricentre.com/p-18871-calcium-magnesium-citrate.aspx googling .

Anothertime would that be ok ?

AnotherTimeMaybe · 21/09/2015 11:33

Yes that looks great!

Also we get our magnesium oil to rub on skin from here www.ancient-minerals.com
Supposed to be the best!

TheSpottedZebra · 23/09/2015 22:29

Make sure you're not taking too much A (and D to a lesser extent). Your body can store these up, whereas you would wee out too much B, C.

Does your Omega 3 contain vit A as well as your multivitamin?
I'd maybe take the Omega 3 with food or earlier on, as it can be a bit hard to digest so maybe not great to take it late if you have reflux issues.

Magnesium is best taken at night, it helps, to relax your muscles and aid sleep.

TheExMotherInLaw · 24/09/2015 12:34

hmm, thanks - time for a re-jig. My D has been very low - down to 3 at one point, and many spoonies take a lot of it. I think a lot of people get D from dairy, which I cannot touch, and I can't get out much, so don't manufacture it myself. My Omega 3 does not also contain Vit A. I'll move my evening handful to suppertime, and hopefully that might mean I can get rid of the omeprazole, which I HAD to take with the naproxen I used to have.

I had to cut my naproxen to mornings only, it kills my stomach otherwise, always on a full stomach.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 25/09/2015 21:17

You probably do need to supplement vit D but have you had any advice from your GP about the dosage? I had an intensive 7 week course of it to boost my levels and now I just take a normal over the counter dose. I had to have my calcium levels checked at the end of the 7 weeks.

TheExMotherInLaw · 25/09/2015 21:41

No - GP totally not interested in anything like that. Won't retest Vit D, even tho it was almost 3 years since it was last done. Won't ask for actual numbers for my thyroid levels.

calcium + magnesium don't work well when taken together.
calcium is best taken in the mornings and magnesium in the evenings.
other than that stick to the daily recommendations.

SunshineAndShadows · 25/09/2015 21:50

Over 75% of the UK population is D3 deficient and a test of 3 is very low. I think you'll struggle to overdo it considering your dietary and outdoor limitations

BestIsWestOfGallifrey · 25/09/2015 22:53

Have you had your calcium levels measured OP? Reflux and Osteoporosis and low vit D and brain fog were all symptoms I had when I was diagnosed with a parathyroid problem.

TheExMotherInLaw · 25/09/2015 23:15

AFAIK no problems with osteoporosis - it's osteoarthritis, (sorry dumb OP)
I'll have to ask about calcium when I go next, but I reckon I have sufficient calcium in my diet. It's good to know what not to take together, thanks
