Nerve tests (myasthenia)

Has anybody had single fibre EMGs of the eye muscles? (To diagnose/rule out myasthenia).

Does it hurt? Will I be uncomfortable or in pain afterwards?

Nobody has explained what is involved in these tests and Dr Google is not helpful.

Any words of wisdom or experience would be very much appreciated.

TIA

I haven't had eye EMG, but have had needle emgs several times. I can't say it was the most pleasant experience of my life (though I have a nerve pain problem in the area under test so things are amplified), but it wasn't awful by any means. And once it was done the area was only ever so slightly sore. The needles really were tiny.

Thank you for replying.

That reassures me a bit.

Yes, the needles are tiny - think of how tiny insulin needles are. The skin may be a little tender afterwards but there should be no lasting after effects. It isn't the most pleasant test but if you think about it, no hospital test is.
