Broken Arm - Slings at bedtime?

Poor DD (5) broke her arm at school today - right at the top near the shoulder, so no cast but she's got it in a sling.

I am about to try getting her out of her school uniform and into pyjamas which will be interesting.

What about the sling - keep it off overnight or put it back on? Will she tie herself in knots in bed with it?

keep her in the sling, she may need to sleep propped up on pillows
Ds broke his arm in the same palce last year (he was 11)
He had to go back after 24 hrs to get a cast on
as his was broken right through, they just like to wait for swelling to go down
is your dd's a greenstick fracture do you know?
School uniform is impossible we found, ds could not toilet himself, carry a bag, unzip pencil case, he got jolted and bumped.
WE kept him off 3-4 wks and he did work at home.

ps sorry for you rr, hope she is ok with calpol and ibuprofen, ds had a very rough first 2 nights FWIW but he is class A woooos

Thanks Piffle - how big was the cast? Was it only on the arm to keep it still?

I've just realised she had no pyjamas with buttons every top she has goes over her head, except her school cardigan, so she might be wearing that tonight!

The break looks as it if goes half way through the bone, so not a full break thankfully.

We're back to the fracture clinic on Monday morning, so will keep dosing her up till then.

they will almost def cast her I suspect
it's a bugger of a cast tbh
bent elbow, goes right over shoulder and down past elbow, it's a new fibreglass wrap system ds had, very light and a sling.
ds is lefthanded and broke his left arm so had a sod of a time
Lucky your dd has xmas to look fwd to and not much school left to worry about
DS did his in the middle of grammar school CAT tests and was given NO allowances
But I digress...

I will have to wait and see then - she is doing quite well today with just the sling and calpol, just an occasional comment about it aching.

We went trolley dodging in Tesco this morning and have had to buy her new pyjamas, shirts rather than polo shirts and a couple of zip up tops.

At least she's right handed - managed to write To Mummy and Daddy I hope I get bet soon this morning!
