they feel like somebody is stabbing me with a knife and sometimes leave me breathless.

Have been ignoring it for around 2 weeks now, I'm going ot have to make a doctors appointment tomorrow but what could it be??? I can't feel any lumps.

It's painful enough that I can't hide it when I get one

Your poor thing... could it be thrush...?
Hope doc appnt goes well and you are feeling better soon.

I get this. For me its raynauds syndrome which is bad circulation. Its usually worse when I'm pregnant. Most people only get it in their fingers, toes etc and they can go white. Does that happen to you? Does your nipple go white? It used to make me faint sometimes when it was really bad.( once in tesco). The pain lasts about 10 monutes and I just have to wait till it passes. I have been known to blow hairdryers on them and am often seen rubbing my boobs!!!

Or it could be thrush.

princessmel · 29/11/2006 16:13

By the way if you think it is raynauds , if you google it quite a lot of info comes up.

Haven't checked nipple.. the pains sometimes make me feel faint and they seem to come in bouts so sounds similar actually.. my fingernails go really blue/white as soon as I get slightly cold which I've always put down to bad circulation.

Doubt thrush as dd is 4, never breast fed or anything. Will google Raynauds

It feels like its going to/coming from deep in my chest if that makes sense - it's not all over morel ike fork lightening if that makes sense.

That really makes sense. My Mum and Nan had it and described it as a knife stabbing their breast.
And it does come in waves. Once it starts to come on I know that there is nothing I can do to stop it. If you regularly have cold fingers then I think its probably this. My midwife just said it was hormones when I was pregnant but pregnancy hormones did make it worse. When I'd decided myself that it was definatly raynauds of the breast ( I suspected it as it was in the family in fingers and toes) I told the doctor and she said ' Oh I've never heard of it in the breasts before' even though there is loads about it online.

I always wear layers, especially vests.

MascaraOHaraIncredibleSheHulk · 29/11/2006 16:33

Would make sense as the weather has suddenly changed aroun dhere over the last couple of weeks.. from fairly mild to really quite cold.

I will have to learn to layer.

Thats ok. I don't know anyone else apart from my mum and nan who has it actually.
You're not pregnant are you?! My mum and nan first had it when they were pg. I didn't. I got it first when I was 16 and was working in Waitrose stacking the oxo cubes above the freezers. I had to ask the superviser man to move me but I didn't want to tell him why so I just said it was too cold there. He just thought I was a spoiled brat. He moved me to the crisps isle though where it was warm!!!!

MascaraOHaraIncredibleSheHulk · 29/11/2006 16:44

LOL @ Supermarket Manager!! No I'm def. not pregnant.. I am stressed out though and one article said stress can trigger it.

I will let you know what doctor says.

Ok great. I think there is some sort of medication you can take for really bad cases. I never have though.
