MenB Vaccination - Timing Query

Does anyone know why they are giving the two initial doses of the MenB vaccination at 2 and 4 months, as opposed to 2&3 or 3&4?

I paid for my DS to have it at 2 and 3 months privately, and had his 4 month one booked for this month but then found it has been added to his 4 month immunisation list. However, when I rang up to query whether he could have it done separately (as it'll be less than 28 days since his 3 month one) they told me he wouldn't need it as he's already had 2 doses, but I'm not sure if it makes a difference that he had them at 2&3 as opposed to 2&4. As a result, I'm massively confused as to whether I should cancel his private 4 month one or not?!

The manufacturers recommendation is for three doses in small babies, but the research has shown an effective immunological response with two doses, so that is what the NHS schedule that started on Sept 1st is following. One dose at 8 weeks and second at 16 weeks for all babies born after May 1st 2015. Babies presenting for second immunisation will get their first dose with their 12week imms and second dose with their 16 weeks imms. Babies presenting born for their 16 weeks (and born on or after May 1st) will get one dose. Babies also get another dose with their 12 month immunisations.
