Cystoscopy

Hello all,
my GP referred me last week to urology as getting constant blood in urine microscopically.
Anyway had a phone call today and urologist isn't seeing me in clinic he wants me to have cystoscopy in a couple of weeks.
Anyone know why? Or what the cause could be?
Bit worried as thought it would be a few months before I even had an appointment to see a urologist and no procedure was mentioned.
Thanks

Maybe they have a space to fit you in and the appt with the consultant will then be more useful as they will have the results from the cyctoscopy to work with? This is how my gastro would be thinking for sure.

Didn't think of it like that. Thank you :)

I agree. The likelihood is that the consultant would have referred you for a cystoscopy anyway with a follow-up appointment in a few weeks time. This way they have the information in front of them at the initial appointment, which is far more satisfactory for both the consultant and you.
Hope it's all ok OP

Recently diagnosed with lupus but have constant kidney infections and blood in wee so hoping this will get some answers .
Where I'm from it takes about 2 years just to get a routine op.

Routine investigations for blood in urine is a cystoscopy +/- IVU to make sure there aren't any growths in the bladder or ureters. Once that has been ruled out, the consultant can get on with the proper job of working out whats wrong with you. By doing the scope first it saves having to see the consultant an extra time and means it is done quicker.

Thank you, seeing all this has put my mind at rest. Just been an overwhelming few months seeing various different people and having different things done .
